<![CDATA[Hi, everyone!]]>Hi! I've been a lurker here for a few months now, but just decided to stop lurking and sign up for an account. I don't know if this is weird, but I don't actually live in Singapore. I was born there, but my family left for New Zealand when I was almost 8, back in the mid '90s. I was led to this site by a family member in Singapore when I was there for a visit earlier this year and saw my young cousins studying madly during their school holidays (!!!!) This is such an interesting forum. I've always been interested in reading about different education systems, so I hope you don't mind me hanging around. 😄

Well, I suppose if you’re not unhappy there then there’s no reason to move. My dad’s never particularly liked living in Singapore, even though he was born there and lived there for about 40 years, so it wasn’t a hard decision for him to take us away. But we also had family friends who ended up moving back to Singapore after a few years, so I guess it’s different for everyone.

How old are your kids? We were quite young when we left Singapore. I was about 8 and my brother was 5. That was about 19 years ago, and we've never looked back. I remember my first day of primary school here. It was great, especially when I learnt there were no exams. 🙂

I know. I feel so lucky I've escaped the stress of school in Singapore. I've been reading some of the PSLE threads and secondary school selection threads here and just felt like :yikes: Over here it's so simple. You just go to the primary and secondary school you live in zone for (unless you opt for private school or you want to try to ballot to an out of zone school), but mostly everyone just goes to their local school.

It was pretty gross. haha. I live in Auckland so I've never been to a dairy farm, but when I was in primary school, the Old Macdonald Travelling Farm used to come to the school once a year and we'd get to play with the animals and try milking the cows and stuff. It was so much fun. 😄

You just save your pic somewhere, scroll down to the Tinypic thing near the bottom of this this page, click 'browse', find your pic from your saved location, then click 'upload now', and then a little link will pop up and you can copy and paste it into your little reply box 🙂

Yeah, spring is nice. Not so good when it rains, but there's a park near where I live, and there are often little lambs running around in spring. So cute. I like summer too. The pohutukawas are blooming and it feels like Christmas! 🕺
