<![CDATA[Buying air ticket for Indonesia helper]]>Hi, my MIL is sending her maid back for a short break.


The hometown is in Cilacap, Indonesia.

Does anyone know which airlines fly there?

If no direct flight, which is the closest airport we should choose?

The maid agency refuses to help us buy the air ticket. I dunno why.

Key in the travel date and it will show you a list of prices from different travel sites/airlines. Hope it helps.

On saving for airfare, see if timing change can result in lower fares. But then, this is not as popular as SG-JKT, so don't get hopes too high.
Settled- direct to Yoyakarta.

She helped herself to MIL's \"expensive\" snacks. MIL found out and hinted at her. MIL was angry then, told me she wanted to look for new helper. Well, MIL has changed her mind liao, decided to keep her as she has stopped the bad habits.

My previous encounters with MIL's helpers indicate that they would tell you they wont mind extending another 2 years. But after they go home and listen to the advice of family and friends, they usu. change their minds.

Let's see if this helper is an exception.

My first maid did a wonderful job...so when when she went home, I was willing to shell out a bit more to let her fly to an airport nearer home (Yogjakarta)...2 hours ride compared to 12 hours from Jakarta.

Just checked Lion Air rates are slightly lower than Airasia to JOG airport, but needs to transit at JKT airport.

Garuda rate is very ex - $260 for return trip.

The helper prefers to go to JOG airport.

BUT she is only renewing 1 year contract, meaning we will need to pay for her air ticket again 10 months later.

Whereas for SIN-YOG-SIN is $258/-

I asked my Indonesian maid. She said nearest airport is Jakarta (CGK). Airasia does fly there. I spent about $184 for a round trip with 20 kg baggage allowance. She may need to take a bus back to her hometown.

I tried googling but none really said Jakarta is the nearest. Hope this helps.

I called n asked MIL's helper. She is aware there is no airport at Cilacap and told me the one she would like to go is Yogyakarta. MIL simply told me the one at her hometown, hence the miscommunication.

Airasia has flights to Yogyakarta, now need to find out from MIL when is the return date.
