So majority of my iPad/iPhone apps all free.

My kids are all on iTunes acct tied to my credit card. I get an email notification whenever they purchase apps/songs. They have been rather responsible all these while (they'll always get my approval beforehand and they bear the costs themselves) but after reading this, now I'm a bit scared.

How/Where can I get iTunes prepaid cards for them?

I bought mine from overseas. Getting overseas prepaid cards will enable you to gain access to that country's iTune store. For instance, I could not download the kindle application earlier on with a Singapore account. However, with a Europe iTune card, I could access the kindle application and install them on my ipad.

When you set up your iTunes account you have to key in a valid email address. It will then notify you of all purchases. I don't recall making special requests.[/quote]I see. I rarely open that particular email account. Maybe that is why I didn't know iTunes sends email for each purchases.

When you set up your iTunes account you have to key in a valid email address. It will then notify you of all purchases. I don't recall making special requests.

I wrote email to Apple to complain why they allowed such things to happen. They should provide option to users to set \"require password each time\" for purchasing on none free items. Currently, we do not need to re-enter password for subsequent purchases within a certain time period.

They refunded the money.

Is there a good reason or need for that?


My kids understand perfectly well that they are not allowed to download any applications at will, regardless free or paid. In fact, my son prides himself for not having any games on his smartphone, despite having a data plan. However, it doesn’t mean they are barred from games. They do play games on ipad (bigger screen) at times. But downloading of stuffs is strictly not allowed.

Maybe boys are more competitive in nature and have more desire to win games. Just drum into them the \"whys\" of not paying for \"free\" games. I'm sure they'll be sensible enough to resist when the time comes.

For my kids, they are very cognizant from day 1 they should NEVER EVER pay for stuff online. They are now on auto mode. free one ok, pay one no way.

:hi5: Same, same. Showed the news to DDs and they can't believe that the boy can be so silly. Hubby was introduced to Candy Crush by DDs. They can be quite obsessed with it, but if no more lives left, then wait lor! They are quite cool about it. No sweat. 🆒 They even list out reasons for not buying extra lives, saying that it’s more challenging and fun, and also can rest their eyes while waiting!
