It keeps out dust to a certain extend on the piano's body, but over time, dust still collects on it. Put in perspective, my upright piano is in an air conditioned room, where the windows are seldom opened.<br /><br />It won't be too hot for the piano. What it does is be a layer of insulator, hence it keeps the piano in a more consistent temperature, which is better for the piano. Having the full cover on while playing the piano reduces the sound a bit.<br /><br />Alternatively, you can also custom order a piano cover online. There are more material selections available, different colors, and you can even embroider the piano's name on it.
