If I have a movie on my smartphone I want to watch on TV, I just copy it to my NAS using a file explorer via SMB (eg. Just to debunk any false expectations, it's still better to browse the web via the traditional equipment (i.e. not the TV). This even as I'm already using a wireless keyboard+mouse with a less-than-a-year-old TV. <br /><br />I don't usually watch video off a phone but I can imagine that you can hook up your phone to the regular charger and transmit from there. Am not a video watcher so I seldom do that. Was just playing around for the fun of it. But I do use the phone to display photos on screen and it's great.<br /><br />P.S I have the adapters for the iPad and went wireless for Android. So they don't draw power from your device.<br /><br />This is good or bad.  I would rather it draws power from the device, which I can then keep charged by plugging the device to a wall socket. I bought one compatible model that is supposed to be meant for S3 for $25 when shop was clearing stock as it was moving.<br /><br />these cables are called MHL cables.<br /><br />and recently after i bought cable i saw that Sony has a new LED TV that has the words ‘MHL-ready’, so i think this might be the way to go. probably in the future, all LED TVs might be MHL-ready, in which case no need to buy these cables separately anymore…</p>

Not micro HDMI to HDMI.  All microUSB to HDMI cables need to be powered, unlike the micro HDMI to HDMI.  Don't buy the wrong cable!<br /><br />These cables can be easily found in SLS. They will also charge your phone as it is playing back your movies.
