Yes, sometimes you have put a book on \"Hold\" and they will notify you when one becomes available. The loan period is 3 weeks, and I believe it can be extended though I've never tried. I usually only borrow a few at a time, and finish them within the 3 weeks. And that there’s a very big hook at the end of the 2nd chapter that compelled him so much, so he asked me to download the book into his Kobo for him to read this Saturday morning.<br /><br />It was one of my fav books from childhood (I loved sci-fi) - but I never realized a 10-year-old boy would love it too. Kudos to the English teacher for introducing them to it!</p>

During their teen years, I had to make sure they didn't completely drop reading whole books - I set limits on screen time (no smartphones then), and set reading targets during vacations. I also made an effort to find and recommend books I thought would interest them, and read them myself so we could talk about them. I think they relate better when the protagonist is a boy of similar age. <br /><br /> <br /><a href="https://postimg.cc/tYp7hRDN">https://postimg.cc/tYp7hRDN</a><br /><br />DS’ school (non-GEP) has been using this book as a beginner’s introduction to Literature (yes, the Secondary school subject). I found it very interesting that the English teacher used their HBL Zoom sessions to facilitate discussions on the various characters in the story, discussions on what words &amp; actions in the passage provide clues on the personality of these characters, and so on. <br /><br />She also used snippets from the movie for discussions. DS noted that the movie was also slightly different from the book. Hard to put down. Actually watched the movie before starting on the book. <br /><br />Been furiously digging away at this book - started yesterday, and should be finishing by tomorrow. it's really a wonderful read. Set in a future world that is engrossed with destroying 'buggers' (some form of insect life) who once almost obliterated humans from earth. A boy (Ender) was identified from young as one with potential and sent off to Battle School. This book chronicles his progress from a 'launchy' (newbie) to a commander of an 'army'. It's way much better than the movie simply cos the movie cut out some parts, and the movie couldn't quite capture Ender's thoughts which the author wanted the readers to see. <br /><br />This is one book I find good, so good that I'm planning to buy and keep. <br /><br />Btw, those I intro to the series 'the unwanteds', book three is out for sometime alr and available in nlb.</blockquote></blockquote>Interestingly enough, I preferred the Ender’s Game movie to the book! <br /><br />(Disclaimer: I usually prefer the book to the movie adaptation, for all other stories, Eg.
