The smell and funny taste were almost gone by the next boiling. At least the taste of the water is more acceptable to me now. Smell/taste of the lime is not as strong as lemon I think. <br /><br /><br />Thanks everyone!</p>

I don't know about Singapore, but in bigger countries, water in different areas taste different because of the naturally-occurring minerals in the water, even if all meat safety standards. Or is the filter system the same as in your home? Rice wine + water. This works well too for new water bottle, plastic containers, etc.<br /><br /><br />You know what, to remove the smell does not take one time and one day. It involves many many times in changing the water, boil again at least 3 days.</p>

Must boil and discard the water twice to remove the citric acid completely from the pot.
