But I just take it as bank deposits, no banks holds 100% depositors $$ in liquid cash... a mere 5% - 10% of standard liquidity at anytime.<br /><br /><br />The difference is, we don't sell our liquid cash (I mean, us, the non FI), so any licensed bank is safe enough for us to deposit our cash... but to deposit gold, (with a certificate issued by a bank), to sell that gold deposit, that gold certificate from what bank is rather important. The issuance bank act as the primary exchange when you put up a long/short option, the spread the bank quote you is largely the median spread from its pool of selling and buying plus a small fix amount of trading charges.
