The $2 plastic model-drawing ruler from Popular broke twice. Are there metal model-drawing rulers/templates available?

It is very important to have this ruler or else a lot of time is wasted drawing models in Maths.

Yesterday, my dd bought another brand of model ruler from her school bookshop. This one is dark green and transparent. It is made of flexible plastic and looks a little bit of better quality than the transparent Elsoon brand from Popular.

We will try out these two new purchases (green Elsoon and the transparent one from the school bookshop) but I will also keep in mind your recommendation and praise of the iKidz ruler and get it soon. Thanks! 🙂

She started off with the $1.60 when she first learn to draw the model becos the rectangular shape is bigger for her to label. When she was more familiar with the model drawing she used the ikidz one. I think when she need to draw units type of model the ikidz one will be better. But really depend on which one the kid prefers.

Thank you SAHM_TAN for this detail. My dd is still young and still learning to treat her things with care. I guess I will take the advice to stock up on half a dozen of the basic model ruler from Popular for now.

I didn't stock up becos the $1.60, though cracked, still can use to draw.

Just to share- I bought the transparent one from Popular last year for my gal. Broke in 2 weeks, and she is generally not rough with her things. Got her the green one, but sadly also broke shortly after. Gave up and did not buy anymore. Too expensive to keep replacing. Bought ikidz one late last year from a friend's recommendation and it is still working fine :rahrah:

So my suggestion to all is to not be penny wise cos the Popular one just does not hold up.

I was told that ikidz can do private sale events in schools if invited, with special discounts only for schools. I had thought about talking to my gal's teacher but was too busy. Anyway i bought online alr liao....

It is from the same brand, Elsoon, as the one I had before, but it is made with a green non-transparent, slightly thicker plastic. It looks more durable. I will come back here and update how it has held up after my dd uses it for a while.

Yup. I bought it together with some frens last yr, to enjoy the discount heehee. The ikidz model ruler is selling at $6 plus each but there's discount if buy in more qty.

I told my kid to go free hand to save time esp during exams but he is just too used to using normal ruler since P1 and acc to him, the teacher insists that they must use it.
My dd1's tr gave the class coloured ice-cream sticks to learn how to draw models :rotflmao: rather creative

There's no rule against free hand model drawing as long as the drawing is neat. Think parents buy the ruler becos it helps the kid to draw faster.

I thought I am biggest buyer for this item...lost count of how many I have bought because the boys kept breaking them. Now I stock them up in cabinet for emergency :evil:

My DS is told metal ruler is prohibited in school, so I do not think metal model ruler is exception.
Thank you for your reply. My dd uses a metal ruler; it is not prohibited in her school. The markings on plastic rulers fade after a while, and the edges lose their sharpness. Metal rulers are more durable.
Sigh... I really hope Popkids will produce a metal model template soon!
