I have learned alot of tips from ks forum and  parents here are kind enough to share their tips.  I got a good recommendation of a tutor who is well-versed in teaching and sharing motivating my kids.<br /><br />Seeing my gals scoring all Band 1 for this MYE really encourages me. These people do hard sell. Ultimately, it still boils down to whether the child wants to work hard, or not.</p>

The parents were given a presentation while the children were given about 20 - 30 mins of 'training'. It was very impressive when the children were able to spell and group certain words which they were unable to do so before the 'training\".<br /><br />After the session came the hard selling. The gentleman tried to convince me how DS3 will perform well in school if he attend their courses. From the way he talked to me I guessed most parents who show interest by attending their talk are desperate to get their children to peform  :siam:. They don’t really teach or cover study subject matter.  They can be useful if done early enough, such that the child understands why he needs to study, and instill the confidence for them to seek excellence.  Some courses also try to impart various mental techniques and good habits of mind.  These are nice skills to have.<br /><br /><br />But at this late juncture, learning and mastering these skills in time to apply for the final exams is likely going to be a challenge.  It might be better to focus on drilling to ensure that the child understands and master actual subject matter.<br /><br />Also, I would be careful of any educator that makes claims on outcomes which are difficult to measure.</p>
