However, those who qualified will still have the option to opt out. You might want to let your son try out for a year &amp; then decide whether to continue. My son did not do HCL in primary school &amp; Chinese is his weakest subject too. We have choose to let him try out HCL in Sec 1.  However,  it is compulsory for IP track students to take HCL. Yes my ds is in the ip program.<br /><br />Its a great school with a pretty relaxed atmosphere. The O level track is more focus on academic excellence than the ip track which is more gear towards the learning journey.<br /><br />Both tracks are exposed to similar programs and electives. <br /><br />One thing to note is the school is very serious about its cca.
