is it very hot or just slightly warm to the touch?
perhaps you should bring back to Tiger to ask them? Most of my thermal pots don’t have this issue… only sometimes it feels slightly warm but not really…

Intending to buy a thermal pot to make cooking easier. Can any kind mummy advise if i can cook in the evening abt 7pm and then leave it overnight till 7am next day. Then put in fridgebin morning and eat it after warming at 6pm?

Any problem with food turning bad? Also can this be used to cook curry?

My boy dont take porridge anymore, he usually eats stew or soup with dishes and rice or pasta.
If start cooking stews in the morn, it'll be done cooking in the pot after 4hrs?
Have you tried cooking 1 pot dish in the shuttle chef, like rice with chicken n veg, or pasta with minced meat?
if using thermal pot to cook 1 pot rice dish, try to use the bigger one 5L one with aim to half filled it but you need to compromise on the rice quality (usually quite soft). use Basmatic rice or jasmine rice, if using Jap rice/or other short grain, they are too mushy to eat. Use 1 cup rice to 3/4 to 4/5 cup water as gauge (depends on your other ingredients), water should be just covered all rice and ingredients and must stir while boiling to even the temperature.

I've tried using 2.5L pot rice with pork belly shrimp and celery, cook at 6.30am for lunch at around 1pm...still quite hot.

I've tired 5L pot for my verison of paella - pork belly, shrimp, bell peppers, celery - cook at 3.30pm for dinner at 6.30pm.

I had 1 prev and most times, the food is lukewarm by lunch time. The upper layer inside is meant to keep cooked food warm only, not cook it.

I used to have a Endo brand 1 litre thermal pot that I used to cook porridge before I bought Thermos shuttle chef (small).

I find Endo brand not capable to cook well whereas the Thermos brand can, given the same amount of porridge to be cooked.

I would not buy Endo or La Gourmet thermal pot as I find the thickness of the pot too thin compared to the bigger brands and not suitable for the kind of dishes I want to cook. Maybe for cooking soft vegetables and thin slices of meat is ok. Not the root vegetables or thick cuts of meat.

The other time when I cooked stewed pork belly (less than half the pot filled) in the Zojirushi 6 litre pot, no issue, the pork belly was nicely cooked.

As the price difference between 7L and 5L thermal cooker isn't that great, I opted for a 7L one. I later found that you would need a substantial amount of food to continue to lock the heat in. With too little food in the thermal cooker, the heat is not maintained. I hope this helps for those who are considering which size to get. 🙂
