Happen to chance upon this thread. My DS3 case is exactly the SAME as your DS! Wear diaper until early P2 this year. And made a fuss and cried when I woke him up to go loo until I gave up. The only diff is mine stopped bec of 'face'. We went to KL, my sis-in-law place for CNY this year. He worried that his aunty and cousins know he is still wearing diaper and refused to wear. Wow lau, I was worried that he wet my sis-in-law's bed. So, warned him that it is pointless not to wear bec everyone will know anyway when he wet the bed. In the end, he did it for 2 days - no wet bed, no diaper! I can feel his joy n pride he had when he returned to spore - no more diaper!
Btw, my DS1 stopped wetting bed at 3 y.o and my DS2 stopped at 4 y.o.

nonKiasu

Reply to does your child still bed-wet ? on Mon, 02 Apr 2012 14:32:57 GMT

bao:
My girl also having the same problem. From very young, babies become aware of their body signals, but a new mother may need to learn to read the body language and bring the baby to the right place to pee. It may be just a look on the face, or how they suddenly freeze in place in the middle of doing something. There are also certain times of the day when they will need to go. Occasional accidents are unavoidable during this early phase.

When the baby becomes mobile, he or she will eventually go to the right place themselves. Accidents may still occur since they cannot move as fast, or if they have been very engaged in doing something else and realise they need to go too late.

This awareness will carry over to night time. The baby may moan, grunt, or stir in its sleep before peeing. By 1 year old, my children do not nap with diapers. By 2 years old, they generally do not want to sleep in diapers and will take them off themselves. From 2 onwards they usually only need to go to the toilet once in the middle of the night. By 3, it's just occasional.

I sleep with them and will take them to the toilet when I hear them stirring. I am a very light sleeper and I usually keep nappy cloths next to the bed for a quick clean-up if we do not move fast enough. Because of this, it was very easy for me to see the change in ds2' night pattern. When I learnt about food sensitivities and night-soiling, I was already keeping a food diary and I was able to single out the food easily. After the switch, he was again in tune with his body. He needs a lot of water, and there are nights when he wakes up to drink (possibly because his nose was blocked from allergic rhinitis and he was breathing through his mouth), but he doesn't need to go to the toilet at all. In fact, we keep a cup of water next to bed for the children. DS1 doesn't wake up to go to the toilet at all anymore even though he will always take a few sips before sleeping.

Anyway, as I said, this is the old-fashioned way. In fact to the elderly, even babies one or two months old can be toilet trained. It's just that they cannot walk or talk, so you have to read their facial and body language.

cnimed

Reply to does your child still bed-wet ? on Sun, 21 Aug 2011 10:06:22 GMT

My girl also having the same problem. Punishing your child for wetting the bed will not solve the problem. You can ask your child to help you change the bed sheets when he or she wets ,It may even help your child feel better knowing that he or she helped out., It’s important for your child to know that bed-wetting isn’t his or her "fault so she/he will not feel guilty and felt embarrass , try to tell him/her about other family members who experience the same situation , It really makes your child feel better. Mummies this are part of growing up, Our kids needs our emotional support and comforT. Offer praise when your child has a dry night. cover your child’s mattress with a plastic cover to make cleanup easier . and my suggestion try to visit doctors to enlighten you thats nothing to worry about t’s not going to last forever, its seems there are some kids has a fast bed wetting recovery. cheerup mum.

Recently wet twice in a week. He still wets now and then. Every night, he would wake up to go to the bathroom at about 1-2 hours after he turns in. But sometimes accidents do happen. What to do, just have to wait for his bladder to \"mature\". At one time, my mum got so tired of waking up and clearing the mess, that she let him wear diapers

Fettuccine
