Just to share. I have the same \"horrified\" encounter 6 months ago. I was checking on my maid's camera and saw pictures of her private part & some photos of her face w/o any top (but till shoulder). My main purpose was to check whether she took any of our photos during a recent zoo trip. I saw her snapping pictures of my boy which I'm not so comfortable with her having our photos.


I spoke to my husband, his 1st reaction was \"harrr\" but after thinking, that's her own private part, she has her own privacy, if it's our boy's private part, we could have sent her back to the agent IMMEDIATELY.

We've come to a mutual agreement to keep her and watch her closely. Despite her above action, she is a very good helper to us.

You see since she joined,I have been very nice to her so that she can take care of my kids, but for the past 1 year I tolerated her,I gave her a mobile, clothes, let her pray 5 times in my house ( i am not muslim) and I let her cook when she doesnt want to eat my food. Despite being nice to her, she doesnt give a damn if my kids eat or dont. I tolerated her cos my hubby say keep changing maids must pay and pay. I have told her that I will be transferring her and she told me to find her a small family. She doesnt give problems but is slow at her work, prefers to sit in the kitchen rather than sit with the kids,goes toilet at least 20 times a day,and now she admitted she has a boyfriend. I dont care if she does,main thing is keep your employer happy at least.


Gosh its so tough to have a maid & not to have one.

There is no perfect situation. You just have to decide what is more important to you - peace of mind or more housework. In any case, you can just buy food back easily in Singapore. I don't have maids though I have lived with maids for many years growing up (hence now I avoid maids, lol). I will send her off right away and settle it with the agency. There is no need to get your husband involved at all.

I don’t think it is right for employers to peep into the maids belongings. Maid is after an employee, not a slave with no human rights. Treat the maid how you would want your employer to treat you

2. Tell the findings to hubby. I don’t see why he should not be consulted if you intend to act on your findings. If eventually both of you are comfortable that that’s the maid’s personal affairs etc and agreed to live with it, then so be it. If he wants to chide you for privacy invasion, that’s a separate conversation
3. Personally if it happens to me, I probably won’t be firing her for her personal indiscretion but I’ll counsel her on her stupidity etc and let her know the consequences of her action, may it lead to pregnancy and that she’ll be sent home prematurely.
