Well, just the \"term and conditions\" not allow, if not I also prefer stay at home to look after children. My boss said that day : when kids go to Secondary school, you will feel you left \"half\" kid only, as they already no need you to supervise them for homework/meal, and they will just hide inside the room do whatever they like and dont like to follow you go out anymore... heard about it, sad right?

my husband said that when that day comes, i can spend that time to go hi-tea with my friends/sis/mum...

The problem with giving employees part-time status is that other mothers might ask for such a status too once they see 1 live example and tend to follow suit.

I hope I'm not stereotyping but that is what happened to my previous company. Even employees who enjoy different commission-scheme will get gossiped too and newbie employees will argue for that. So bosses had no choice but to make everything standardised and 'fair'. These newly-joined have often forgotten that these mothers who enjoy such status have already been through the thick and thin with the company.

Winth, you're so right not stereotypying at all! Company is foreign. Immediate boss is local then 1 level up is angmoh. Forgot to mention also that pay is attractive..not little at all as it's commonly assumed. There're 3 more privileged ones in my company.

Maybe loyalty played a part in my case. I've been with the company since graduation..so many many years..lost count liao. :oops:

My kids are grown up and often I've been asked why not go back full time. No way, Jose..I love my life as it is now, don't need the stress and can't bring the money to the grave. Plus I enjoy chauffering the kids to/from school. Yes, I do have more time to pamper them. Hope they're not spoilt.:P

Money doesn't buy you happiness. Seems to buy you loads of stress though.
So...when push comes to shove, I'll opt to stay home and give up working altogether. (after getting used to having so much ME time, I can't imagine how I would ever adapt to a full timer's life..or rather lack of it.)

I used to work for Australia/NZ working hours. Wake up at 5 am, took a cab (paid for by company) and reach the office before 6 am. By 3 pm I knock off from the office (very rare for the Austtralian office to give me more work after office hours). No traffic jam and I'm back home by 3.30pm. Plenty of time for my kids, for exercise and housekeeping. Might want to look out for such job.
