Policeman Iskandar Rahmat has been found guilty of double murder.

Following a nine-day trial, Justice Tay Yong Kwang found that prosecutors had proven beyond a reasonable doubt that Iskandar, 34, had planned to rob and kill motor workshop owner Tan Boon Sin, 67, and his son Tan Chee Heong, 42.

Iskandar has been given the death penalty, mandatory in a conviction under Section 300(a) of the Penal Code, the highest form of murder.

Justice Tay called the attacks ruthless and cruel.

He thanked the investigation team for their professionalism and lack of bias despite Iskandar also being a police officer.

As Justice Tay handed down the death sentence, Iskandar looked forward, his face expressionless.

He also allowed Iskandar 20 minutes to speak to his family after court had been adjourned.

Members of the Tan family could be seen smiling at each other after the verdict had been passed.

Many horrified people saw the younger man's body being dragged...I remember reading somewhere that someone did knock on the car to inform the driver. this case happened in 2013...it must have been painful for the family...but like many, we hope to see justice meted out.

On day 1 of the trial, it was revealed that he'd reversed the older Tan's car over the younger Tan in his flee from the crime scene. The latter was unfortunately lodged underneath the car, and dragged for a km.

why are people so cold blooded? it's money he wanted, why must he take the lives of 2? why must he reverse the car into the younger man and drag his body on the road? this is showing disrespect for humanity.

even if he does get death penalty, his life can't repay 2 broken families.

It is frightening.


The other cold blooded murder case is the killing of ex-lawyer’s wife. The killer brought bicycle chain which he used to hit the woman. Then he set the office on fire.

Everytime we drive past the mosque which is something regular since we live in that area, I can't help but recall the blood trail that we saw on the road and news on how the younger man have been dragged by the car driven by that guy....


I hope justice is served fast to enable the family to have closure.
I live near there too, and drive past quite often too. Wife will pass by everyday… It was really horrible to have dragged the body all the way for so far. And how/why was the body finally dislodged? One colleague during lunch at the vegetarian restaurant recently said the body was decapitated so dislodged. 🙏 Really hope it wasn't the case…

I was completely unaware of it that day, as i take another route home. But later in the night, when heard about it, could actually see the blue tent from one end of my place. 😓

Northeast used to be quite peaceful, but the last ~10 yr quite uncharacteristic. Still remembered the one-eyed dragon case where gun was fired in the early morning in HDB… I was staying just one bus stop away at that time, and DC were still so young. Freaked me out...
