I have 2 kids and have been married for 7 years as well, sometimes it does get tough to keep coming up with ideas, really understand what you are going through haha.


My husband and I have termed our dates as 'kopi dates' because we enjoy talking over teh ping or kopi and it has been stuck with us through all these years. Sometimes we buy our kopi and would walk to a park nearby at night, after our kids are in bed, to just enjoy the quietness.

Once a year, we actually go back to the spot where we first met and have a meal there to reminisce how we got to know each other and fell in love after. It does help to keep the spark alive and remind ourselves how we built this relationship, which makes us appreciate each other more.

I don't think we have the most creative ideas but what keeps our dates going is really memories, and bringing them up once in a while to simply walk through memory lane of how it all began and grew, I think everyone's love story is always worth bringing up time and time again 🙂

To this end, I take many photos and videos when we go on holidays. Then, I would organize them and put them up on a private blog for easy viewing. Looking back at those memories - amazing!

You can do the following to come up with some creative ideas:

i. Purchase \"Time Out\" magazine and see what are the happenings in Singapore (http://www.timeoutsingapore.com/)

ii. Check out hungrygowhere.com (http://www.hungrygowhere.com/) for good dining venues.

iii. If you and your wife are artistically-inclined, you can check out the receptionist counters at major shopping centres such as Marine Parade Shopping Centers or VivoCity for catalogues of upcoming or recent performances at the Esplanade or Marina Bay Sands.

iv. Most people travel abroad. You can do that, or you can do a \"staycation\".

v. If you and your wife are the sporty type, go to East Coast for a jog or just rent a bike or rollerblade. If both of you are swimmers, go do some sea sports.

vi. If you and your wife are avid photographers and/or designers like myself, go shoot some pictures. Landscape , street photography, portraits , macro photography are all possible with the right lens. If you run out of places, check for events, such as the bi-annual Singapore Garden Festival, coming again in 2014 (https://www.singaporegardenfestival.com/)

Move around, be creative.

Dinner in the cable car sounds pretty good. I might consider The Capella for a night’s worth of relaxation with my wife, away from the kids.

I’ve taken a look at I-Dears and that was one great suggestion! I’ll probably use the randomiser for future dates with my wife, save me the hassle(and headache!) of planning each outing without the kids. This time, it generated Les Amis for me and I guess I’ll make a reservation there.

There is a pretty new website called http://www.idears.sg. Some places are reviewed, while some are new and have yet to be reviewed. But what they have is the randomiser that you can use to help you choose a place. You just have to select the filter \"Romantic Dining\" when using the randomiser, and you will be randomly given a place to go to for a romantic dinner with your wife.
