Agree. I look at it as ano novelty. But of course for some young families, it can be a deco to enjoy. For me, I stop buying anything extra coz it’ll be extra load cluttering my place to dust/clean.
Pro - it's more like a night light for me. I realised my hall plunged into pitch darkness when the bulb blew. So in a way, it is useful and gives a nice glow, macam Alabaster.
Con - it only works with incandescent bulbs 24/7 to keep it from sweating...and also it needs the heat to emit the whatever ions.

Anyway, you can get one for less than $10 in msia...or perhaps 3x that in SG...not a lot of money if you wanna experiment, especially if you have some nagging health problem

It is better to switch off the lamp and wrap it up. One of ours bulb blew and no one was home to attend to it. So we got a small puddle of salt solution which became salt crystal.

There were no major health issues to start with at home. We use it as night light as well as decor. Read somewhere that air-con remove -ve ions in the room so if the lamp works, it will replace the loss.

You can get the bulb from any shop that sells light bulbs. It is the screw on type. Box is blue in colour and has the word Pygmy on it, cost $1.50 can last quite a few months.

I got lamps from a shop at Toa Payoh Central but it has closed down.

I think you may be able to find them at Waterloo Street area where there are many mineral stones shops. It was quite a fade once but has died down somewhat but we still like the lamp.

The shop has them in diff sizes and shapes…ranging from RM20 for a small one to RM50 for a pyramid shaped.

They are on 24/7. 15watt bulb to give light and heat to keep the lamp dry. The big block of salt is so salty it will absorb moisture from the atmosphere and as a result the surface will change from crystalline to liquid, then the heat will evaporate this liquid which emits the -ve ion. That's why the rock sweat if you don't apply heat. If you are not using the lamp, you have to wrap it up to prevent contact with atmosphere or you get a puddle of salt water next to the lamp after a day.
