Should I accept this maid?

My former maid was said to have some lung issue when she came for the review, like cannot expand fully, but still pass overall. I decided to take her in, as she said she was sick because of the changes in weather. So I brought her to the GP and did not let her look after my 3 month old for a week. However, she remained weak, and had to see a GP every month for cough and flu. Apart from medical expenses incurred, I still had to take over looking after my baby. My older kid caught the germs from her and fell sick often, missing school for weeks, wasting lots of money on pd and sch.

So, I suggest not taking her because her immunity level would be very low.

But I was worried i thought she have TB cos i also got younger kids at home, but since all clear, then we just got used to her coughing .

The treatment for this condition is medication for X months with regular visits for check-ups and testing. This happened to my DS when he was infected many years back. I cannot remember the full details of the treatment except the daily medication and frequent visits on weekend to the TB centre (cannot remember the name) at Moulmein Road.

Agent can verbally say she will be responsible for her medical costs but the law says YOU as the employer are liable.

Money aside, pls be careful for your family’s sake. My mum’s friend (grandma status) and grandkid had to endure 6 months of drugs and monitoring at TTSH TB centre becos their maid contracted TB when she was in SG (she passed the review but somehow her TB flared whilst under employment) and the two were deemed to be susceptible - the other family members were cleared. I can’t imagine having to pump so much drugs into a young body.
