She's like me - doesn't like shopping! Very low on her list of priorities. And she's afraid that she'll have to wear pre-teen clothes. October can be quite cold for people from the tropics, so I just want to make sure she has 1 warm jacket to start with.

I hunted through our stored clothing and took out all her stuff this morning, and she's decided that what she has is OK to start with, so we aren't going to buy a jacket. We brought several warm items back to Singapore when we moved back here when she was 14 (she hasn't grown!), and she has a few warmer items acquired for various overseas trips in the recent years. We bought a few formal-ish items for her recently, so I think she's good to go. She can add to her wardrobe when she's there. She can't bring that much with her anyway. I'll have to help her buy a few other things later one, but not clothes.

It depends on the brand and cut. Their petite size seem to be growing over the years... stretchy clothes are the most versatile.

Not sure what Petite is like. There wasn't much of that in my day, and I used to buy clothes marked \"13 yrs old\"! Or wear the smallest adult size which would be baggy and long. She'll figure it out for herself. I just want to get her enough basics so she doesn't freeze before she finds out where to shop.

IMO it's gonna be tough as 11/12-yr-olds are still in their unguided state & need a lot of guidance to discipline. If long holiday, most kids hard to settle down to serious work(such as PSLE) & teachers will hv headache getting kids' cooperation. So consider carefully.

Maybe a few days' staycation at Sentosa then agree to work with kid on revision before fun. Then mummy need to stick to agent even if kid enjoyed & forget. Long holidays can start 2nd week of Oct for PSLE students. Given them a good one esp Spore kids hv crossed the PSLE miles stone, which IMO is not an easy passage.

Decathlon - their products comes in a wide range of prices. Not sure if you can get any winter clothes at this time of the year though. There are 3 outlets in Singapore.

Slmkhoo , water proof jacket if u have time can wait for winter time sale . If u get online fr ezy buy etc u can’t feel the materials n wat they claim ( duck down , swan down - dunno how true) !
For pants , I got fr uniqlo.heatech series - only come out in year yr abt nov .
U need to get thermal - uniqlo has extra & ultra warm thermal . $29.9 each . Ultra series can go down to minus .
All these work for me up till -13c with Gloves, scarf , thermal , pull over , weather proof winter jacket , thermal sock ( winter time too )

We want to feel and try (my daughter is short and not everything will work for her). She's afraid that she will have to buy from the children's dept overseas (which is probably true).

It depends on the child - is she the kind who can get back to work quickly after a break? Or the kind who needs a long time to restart the engines? How prepared is she already? Or does she have a lot of backlog to make up? Having a break before the final push can be a good thing, but it may not work for everyone.

My daughter was educated overseas and we brought her back to Singapore for the PSLE. We revised with her overseas up till May of her PSLE year, took a couple of weeks' break, then arrived back in Singapore in mid-June in time to join a Singapore school from Term 3 onwards. She is a strong student and was able to knuckle down quickly to study, and did well. But I wouldn't have done that with my other child. So you have to decide depending how you \"read\" your child.

And this is rather OT? Maybe you should put this under an \"education\" or \"travel\" thread, not \"clothes\"!
