Cannot anyhow play play.

Firstly, we must assume that the HOD of the branded primary school, being a senior educator, must know what she was talking about. There must therefore be some truth to her claim that the ability to distinguish 'scientific English' from conventional English sets the A* students apart from the A students.

Could it be that our education establishment have been infiltrated by a group of 'scientific English' using educators? Could it be that our PSLE papers are set by members of this group? Does that explain why certain 'brand name' primary schools have disproportionate numbers of students who score A*? Is 'scientific English' merely a covert tool used by this group to give their own students an undue advantage - to set them apart from the non 'scientific English' using masses? Is 'scientific English' merely a tool designed to entrench elitism?

I think we should demand an assurance from MOE that our kids are not unduly disadvantaged in national exams merely because they are taught by teachers who are not into 'scientific English', or for that matter 'mathematical English' or any other form of Whathaveyou English.

:nailbite:

pirate

Reply to Does anyone know how to speak Scientific English? on Fri, 27 Sep 2013 02:36:33 GMT

i think limlim put it across nicely
