Most of the time, they scored full or close to full marks for homework, projects and assignments. This reduced our stress during the CAs and SAs. If I had to do it all over again, I’d still emphasize the importance of doing well for homework.</p>

I am cool with DS1.<br /><br />For DS2- I still need to check every now and then. I will assign him my homework just to check his understanding on the topics.  I feel more stressed when DS2 exam is near as he is the happy go lucky type, not kan cheong at all. I hope he will be like gor gor when he is in secondary school.<br /><br />Having said that, DS1 did only average for science in CA2 cos he made careless mistakes hence chances of pure science is deceased! He scored distinction for the New South Wales Science. Does it help to put in in any better light for pure science classes? Anyone has any idea?</p>

I dunno the answer to this question. <br /><br />I can share my reactions to results but I don't know if it is appropriate for other kids. For subjects like math and sciences, as long as they don't score 100%, I have the same response, \"do corrections and make sure you understand the mistakes\". For humanities subjects, will just remind them to read teacher's comments and try to improve. Whether the actual score is 70%, 75%, 85%, it makes no difference to me. If the grade is much lower, I may ask them to show me the scripts and discuss it in more details with them and advise them how to study better for the next test/exam. For a person who is more of a generalist and wants to stay that way, then getting all scores around a good level is important. For someone who is strong in a limited area and wants to really specialise in that area, then getting the highest scores possible in a limited no. of subjects while the others may be more lack-lustre may be the way to go. What are you expecting in terms of \"work harder\"? Is the discipline you expect or the mark you wish to see within your child's capability? Maybe she doesn't have the stamina or the desire? Tuition doesn't work magic if the child doesn't have the motivation or the ability. You may need to work on motivation and foundation. But if my child has does her best and still doesn't do well, I have to accept it.
