Running a fever , no cough no cold no flu.<br /><br /><br />So I thought I self medicate. From Friday to Sunday I took about 20 panadol. Felt so dizzle and lousy.<br /><br />So I went for TCM on Monday , was prescribed Chinese Herbs that can reduce the fever.<br /><br />Friday, Sat,Sun and Monday ...fever is like YOYO.<br />Was told by the TCM that if Fever continues to be YOYO -must go clinic to check for Dengue :scared: <br /><br />Today Tuesday , decided to visit Western Doctor and was diagnosed with Tonsillitis-throat infection. Was prescribed with Antibiotics. Every time I go to him with fever, cough, running nose - I get:<br /><br /><br />Paracetamol (Panadol, Biogesic)<br />Danzen<br />Phlegm tablets (Mucuosolva)<br />Throat lozenges<br />Antihistamines (Centirizine, Chloramine, Bendaryl)<br />Nasal sprays (Fluticasone)<br />Antibiotics (Doxycycline, Amoxicilin)<br /><br />Every time, for years (except for antibiotics, which depends on phlegm color and such - I think). I could self-prescribe with my eyes closed. <br /><br />But really, it’s excessive in my opinion - I don’t take even close to the whole load; they just accumulate in the cupboard. At least my (very brilliant) insurance covers everything.</p>

Paracetamol is a cheap and effective pain killer and fever reliever with few side effects, which is why it's so popular. If not, we prefer to self-medicate. Saves time, energy and money. We will see the doctor if we think we need antibiotics as those need a prescription.<br /><br /><br />As an aside, I recently bought generic paracetamol from Unity at around $3 for 100 tablets! They only expire in 2017.</p>
