SINGAPORE: The websites of 13 schools were reported defaced on Wednesday between 3.30pm and 5pm.

The Ministry of Education (MOE) has referred the matter to the police for investigation and it is working to restore the affected websites.

Channel NewsAsia understands that all 13 schools were on a single server that was affected.

The affected schools are Bukit Timah Primary, Canberra Primary, Compassvale Primary, Greendale Primary, South View Primary, West View Primary, Woodlands Ring Primary, Henderson Secondary, Kent Ridge Secondary, Maris Stella High, Raffles Girls', St Gabriel's Secondary, and St Andrew's Junior College.

Cross-site scripting is still hacking. You can't get into fortress, so you try to divert visitors to your own site. At best, it would be vandalism. At worst, it can be used to steal data from visitors' computers. So yes, that chap can be charged for hacking with malicious intent.

I think maybe the authorities still scratching their heads whether the two of them committed any offence.

My understanding of 'cross-scripting' (from the newspapers!) is that they keyed in some code (instead of a search term) into the search engine embedded in the PMO and Istana website. The search engine then actually ran the code and sent the user to some other funny external webpage. However, the PMO and Istana websites made it look as though they were at the PMO and Istana websites instead of at the offending webpage, by showing the result as a \"subpage\". They were then able to capture a screenshot that looked like they 'hacked into' the websites, although in actual fact they never did hack into the PMO or Istana websites.

But if they never actually hacked into the PMO or Istana websites, what offence, if any, have they committed since they never actually gained unauthorized access into any computer system? Is there an offence of pretending to hack? :scratchhead:

If they openly support TM, that means they align themselves to his/their cause (\"Anti-SG Govt\")? But the opp is not 100% anti-Govt. They support some of their policies and will stand united behind the Govt in times of adversity, incl haze, attacks by terrorists or enemies of war.

I don't see at all the part I highlighted in red, from their silence. That is the problem I am having with their silence.

In the old days, both CST and LTK could have been counted on to jump to the defence of Singapore. Now both the SPP and WP, who have members in Parliament, are conspicuously missing in action. Makes me wonder if it is because they are actually afraid of TM & Co. If they are frightened of a little hacker, how can they be counted on to stand by Singapore when it comes to the crunch in situations where the stakes are even higher?

Clearly, this fella is not really that great in hacking. Good hackers will never get arrested. The fact that the police can trace him to KL, means that he did not cover his tracks well. Concealment is what differentiate a good hacker from an average one.


Not only he is a lousy hacker, he is also a coward. Physically in KL and urging his fellow Singaporeans to protest in Singapore... speechless.
