He was diagnosed by the professional psychologist, approved by MOE, therefore given extra time for his PSLE.  Now that he is in secondary, he was granted extra time without any further diagnosis, the fact that I did submit his previous report to the school.  However I understand should he need extra time for his O level, which is couple years down the road, I will need to send him for diagnosis to get the latest report.  Think report only valid for 3 years. Thanks!</blockquote></blockquote><br />As they say in Singlish, <i><i>tan gu gu </i></i>(aka \"wait long long\")<br /><br />No experience with regards to A levels papers but my dd did sit for a 3 hr paper for O lvl.There's no break in between, so the poor child sits for a long period of time. Yes, agree, it is mentally draining. As such, the child needs to pace and self-regulate.<br /><br />As suggestion, somewhere at 1/2 way mark or at mid-paper, go for toilet break or stretch in the chair or even take a sip of water. The idea is to take a mental break, even 2-3 mins helps.<br /><br />When she was sitting for her PSLE, she was allowed to stand and do some stretching exercises (she was in a separate room). There was no pause to the exam timing even for a 12yo kid. But that 2-3 mins did wonders to perk her up.<br /><br />What was heartwarming was that the invigilator even stretched with her to keep her company and that helped to make my dd feel less anxious.
