My mum was very disappointed and caned me without finding out the reason. Then my dad just hugged me &amp; assured me that no matter what marks I get, he'll still love me. &amp; that really helped alot.<br /><br /><br />Before major exams, my dad will tell me that as long as I do my best, he'll be happy. &amp; he always says that I've already won half the battle because I studied hard.<br /><br />Eventually I got over it, but it could be 'placebo' effect as my aunt &amp; dad did give me some 'remedies' to avoid that situation. We tried flower remedies (Bach Flower remedy) which I still recommend to parents as it's made from natural flower essences &amp; has no side effects <img src="https://forum.kiasuparents.com/assets/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji/emoji/android/1f642.png?v=f4f27f6278e" class="not-responsive emoji emoji-android emoji--slightly_smiling_face" style="height:23px;width:auto;vertical-align:middle" title=":)" alt="🙂" /> It's odourless and tasteless so kids will generally take it quite well. <br /><br /><br />You need to assure your child alot. Even if he/she sees a specialist, that's what they'll advice you to work on.<br /><br />Btw, if you really want to consult a specialist (private), I recommend Dr Hong at Raffles Hospital. She's a very nice lady who is great with kids. Any exam, be it academic, driving, music, performing on stage, teaching a class, important presentation etc.<br /><br />But for me, when I tell myself I don’t give a hoot about the result, I would relax, smile and perform much better. That rules out last minute cramming!<br /><br />That is what I try to tell my kids too.<br /><br />These few days, with all the exams going on, I just say "enjoy your exam today!" before I send them off. I also refrain from asking them how was their test/exams. If I’m curious, I just ask them if the test/exam was fun.<br /><br />I don’t know if this is good advice, but this is what I do.</p>

Just before the paper started, I suddenly blacked out and had no clue what I should be doing. Never before, it was way scary. I believe in religion and then took to praying…somehow, the block cleared and I was able to complete it as normal.<br /><br /><br />If the boy keeps having this, it may be good to consult specialist. He’ll need to learn to be able to handle this - either via faith, meditation, whatever, else it’ll follow him in life.<br /><br />Had a JC friend whom I suspected of the same. She does her work regularly (more so than me) yet her test/exam results don’t show the result of hardwork.</p>
