Hi Mods, can we splice this section off? Maybe a ‘where to donate old books’ (if that hasn’t existed yet’

Anyway, i think our NLB is fussy about the books donated - i see the new books they buy, I don’t think they actually intake the donated ones and place on shelves for pp to borrow.

That said, they have kindly set up bookshelves at the entrance of libraries (I see that in some branches) where people can put down whatever books they don’t want, and pick up whatever books catches their fancy. It’s a nice way to recycle books to places that will love them.

What do organization do with the donated books when they did door to door collection of old clothes, books etc ?

Do they sell to recycling company, or sell in their flea market to raise funds ? Do they do both after sorting through. Because if they only sell to recycle, I don’t want to donate good story books. If they sell in flea market, I don’t want to donate old text books.

Or have to call and ask.

2. How to check if the organization collecting is real ?

The recent one is organised by grassroots with a sec school, so pretty straightforward. But I do receive a few other organization ones. How to check if it is not some entrepreneur out to earn quick buck ?

Thanks …
