I realise that the syllabus is very different from the olp stream, for example we learn settlements in geog instead of rainforests. Do we need to also know what the express stream is learning?
I am holding on only with pure memorisation and cramming. I am worried that I will fall apart when the workload gets heavier in upper sec. Nevertheless, thanks a lot :))
Also, it will be deeply appreciated if someone could pm me on the syllabus for sec 2,3 and 4,(in scgs) as I recognise we are currently doing some sec two/three work and I want to know what is in store for me if I stay.
Thanks a lot everyone!

Reply to Transferring school at sec 1 ( next year sec 2) on Mon, 26 Sep 2022 08:25:31 GMT

sica\" post_id=\"2083563\" time=\"1664179510\" user_id=\"199472:

Dear parents,
Thanks a lot for your help!
Yes, it is indeed true I longer wish to continue my secondary school journey in SCGS olp, as I want to start anew.
Thank you for your heartfelt advice 💗
Yours faithfully,
Sica

Hi Sica

Please do not be so hard on yourself! There is no need to aim for 80 for anything. The promotion criteria to remain in IP is 60. You can ask the KSP SCGS parents here - I don't think any of our kids are in the 80 range.

My daughter also had a couple of failures in Sec 1 (she too, entered by S1 and was eligible for NYGH and MGS IB her year). Her Sec 1 results were really weak. We did nothing. But she did fine in Sec 2 and Sec 3. I guess her Sec 1 was so poor that she got the Good Progress Award (GPA) at the end of Sec 2 lol!! Sec 1 is really quite inconsequential if one doesn't do well - please take the time to enjoy SCGS Don't give up! Instead, quickly cast your fishing net much wider, to consider more good OL schools, like -

(Tanjong Katong Girls, Cedar Girls, Crescent Girls, MGS, Paya Lebar Methodist Girls, Chung Cheng High, Anglican High, St Nick ) O-level track Secondary schools. Whoever school give u the Transfer offer first, faster exit your current IP programme.

Do not even attempt, to seek Transfer into your O-level (SCGS).
Why ?

Because of
emotional baggage.

Example

Say, u managed to transfer successfully, into your next year 2023 Sec 2 O-level SCGS class.

You know, what's going to happen ?

Your fellow Cca mates + some of your new classmates will know. Some of them, very kaypoh, very inquisitive, very insensitive, during recess time break or free time, will approach you and ask this question :-

\"Hey, I heard that u are actually from Sec 1 IP student, before. How come, why huh, why u want to transfer over into our 2023 Sec 2 O level class, instead ? \"

Sica,

if u are a wise girl,
I am sure u don't even feel like answering them these questions, because by answering them,
it will open up all your un necessarily ( past wound, pain and hurt), of your phobia to continue in your IP curriculum. Hence, once and for all, u wish to break away from all these un necessary past gossip and kaypoh-ness from your new Sec 2 classmates, never to be reminded of IP anymore. YES, u did try, u did attempt, but it just doesn't suit you. That's all. Accept the truth and move forward in life.

So,
quit SCGS (IP) and transfer out into another brand new Secondary 2 new environment school setting, where nobody know you at all, and u feel the confidence to start your 2023 Sec 2 afresh, all over again, in a fresh, brand new environment Secondary school. New school, new Teachers, new Cca mates, new classmates. Everything, all brand new.

Once u enter into an O-level (OL) curriculum school, your confidence, your ability to cope with the OL school work, will be restored.

And you will soar like an Eagle, once more. You will fly in the sky, one more time. In fact, all your past Sec 1 IP (skills training cum learning exposure), has not been wasted. They will stand u in good stead, inside the O level track.
So, do not fear.
Fill up the Transfer Application form(s) quickly, submit to as many OL schools as u wish. After all, there is no limit to the number of schools, that u wish to seek Transfer to. Whichever school offer u the Transfer first, accept and go quickly.

Warning (Alert)
Do not wait until end of Sec 2, then u come and seek Transfer.

Why ?

Because
At end of Sec 2, u will face far more competitors to seek transfer, compared to end of Sec 1.

What u need now, is a conducive environment, to quickly help u restore back your confidence, to look forward in life, to like to go to school happily, everyday.
Once your self confidence has been restored, u will be able to \"chiong\" again, inside the OL track.

By remaining in your current IP programme, unless u yourself deep inside, feel that u are able to conquer & overcome all the issues (challenges) in IP, otherwise, will be a drag and a torment, if u continue with IP. The choice is yours. Learn to be wise, to be a young lady of ... wisdom.

If u really want to go back to Eunoia JC one day, u can still do so, after clearing your O level. In fact, by choosing OL, it opens up more flexible opening(s) what u want to do with your educational journey, ahead. You can go (IB, Polytechnic, JC, or go overseas to study), once u have cleared your OL. So many options available for u, to choose from.

Sica

Do u know, when u have made the right, correct decision in life ?

Answer -
Is when u have \"PEACE\", inside you, in your heart.

Info
As of 2021 batch of OL candidates, born in year 2005, to enter Eunoia JC, as a JAE student :-

1) 6 points (L1R5),
to enter SEAB-A-level Science stream (Eunoia JC)

And

2) 8 points (L1R5),
to enter Arts stream (Eunoia JC)

OL : O-level curriculum track

phtthp

Reply to Transferring school at sec 1 ( next year sec 2) on Mon, 26 Sep 2022 00:49:58 GMT

sica\" post_id=\"2083407\" time=\"1664081039\" user_id=\"199472:

hi!
i am currently a secondary one student in SCGS.(IP)
i want to transfer out of school, preferably to crescent girls
i am writing here as I want to ask if I have a valid reason and whether or not there is a possibility for me to join, provided the school has vacancies.
Firstly, I will like to clarify that i do not hold anything against SCGS, neither is there serious problems in the school. By the end of 3rd week October, your son's Sec 1 EYA, will be over.

EYA : end-of-year Assessment

===========================

Thus, what is the first step to do ?

Go, make the phone call.
Find out whether got vacancies arise or not, at this point in time. Soon, he will reach the end of Sec 2.

Therefore,
apply Transfer only to those schools that have his "dream" Sec 3 subject combination

Example

If his "dream" Sec 3 subject combination is "Double Science / Double Humanities", then make sure he apply to such schools

Because

some schools only offer Combined Sciences but do not offer any Pure Sciences subject combination.

You can call up those schools that your son is interested in, request to speak to the VP (academic), ask them

1) is there any vacancy for Transfer, now ?

If their reply is "Sorry, no vacancy", case closed. Then, move onto the next school in search and start calling again

2)

if their reply is "Yes, got vacancy now " , then proceed to the next important question : ask them whether the school has your son’s dream or desired Sec 3 subject combination

Never mind about whether the school website got the form or not. More importantly is, first step is to find out whether the school has any vacancy now. This answer can only be obtained, if u call up the school directly, speak to the VP in charge of school transfer
