Hi, where do you get the cohort size of NJC?

From the NJC school website, I get 34 students scored 7 and 8 distinctions and 108 students scored 6 or more distinctions. But could not find detail on the cohort size.

The variation in in-take seems large. DHS is taking in about 380 and TJC about 150.

DHS and RVH don't take in any more students at Year 5.

There is no official J1 admission for RV and maybe for DHS also but there are students who transfer to RV at year 5. This is possible. There is no specific COP but it is about 4 and an admission test is required. Call the general office for more info.

My DD is also still considering either one of them though RVHS is nearer to home... :?
NJC has a parents support group which recently celebrated their 10th anniv. I m not sure abt the strength of the alumni. My elder boy is in Senior High 1 this year, there was no Home Econs during his Junior High years. I think the reason is due to the sch does not hv the infrastructure for Home Econs classes, bearing in mind NJC was a college, not a sec sch to begin with.

There will be 2 open house for the Junior High each year, think it is sometime in May and Oct. Do visit the sch website n sign up for the open houses.

I think the reason why NJC does not provide uniform group is because NJC started off as a popular JC before offering secondary levels while River Valley High School started off as a popular secondary school before offering JC levels.

I think one of the biggest difference is that NJC does not have HMT and in RV it is compulsory to take HMT. I think of RV as a second NYG as they are similar in many ways: Strong Chinese foundation, compulsory HMT etc.

Also consider the traveling time.

Other than the things stated, those two schools have not much difference.

HMT is compulsory in year 1 and 2 for all students, regardless whether the student has or has not taken up HMT in pri sch.

NJC does offer hmt though it may not be compulsory for the students to offer hmt. RV is a SAP school, thus, only hcl is offered.
