Not sure if its unfounded or an urban legend, hope someone with recent experience of ACS Barker can share. To achieve AL22, you will need to get at least 2 AL6 subject, which has a raw score range of 45 to 64. Which mean potentially a student with 3 subject raw score of 45 marks will still have a chance to get into ACS B if he get at least an AL4 for 1 subject. In terms of t-score equivalent, we could be looking at around 157 to 160. And of course, to some PSLE is not important.

Ok yours is the lower end. Let’s say higher end 64+64+64+79 will be around 200. That’s the reason 21-22 have a choice of Express or NA.
PS: 20+20+20+90 also AL22

When you have AL6 subject in the mix, the spread will become very wide because AL6 raw score is from 45 to 64. In the past 50/100 is passing grade, but now 45 is the new passing grade. And with AL22 COP, the lower end could be 45 + 45 + 45 + 75, which is around 157 t-score equivalent.

Which is to say that with AL22 COP, the entire ACS P6 cohort should be eligible to move up to secondary school, perhaps through balloting for AL22 students. As for those with high AL22 of say 200 t-score equivalent, the risk of losing out during balloting will be very high and it will be difficult to find a good school with AL22 score once out of ACS

What is even more interesting is that a student with AL21 can actually score far worst than AL22. E.g. someone with low score of 45 + 45 + 45 + 80 (160) will be accepted before AL22 student with say 64+64+64+79 (200)

IMO, this AL COP system for affiliation will be very messy and you will likely see weaker students being accepted while stronger ones ballot out. Hence the strategy going forward will be to ensure your child do extremely well for at least 1 subject because with 1 subject score of AL2 or AL3, you can afford to \"fail\" the 3 other subjects.

e.g AL3 + 6 + 6 + 6 = AL21, or AL2 + 6 + 6 +6 = AL20

Veyron

Reply to ACS Barker Road on Sun, 02 May 2021 01:20:47 GMT

Davischew\" post_id=\"2022156\" time=\"1619915212\" user_id=\"132882:

Veyron\" post_id=\"2022128\" time=\"1619879287\" user_id=\"30663:
The indicative AL COP for ACS (B) is AL22. There are non-feeder school students in its N(A) and N(T) classes.

Vacancies for non-feeder school boys vary each year, largely depends on how many Sec 1 Express classes there are in the new academic year and how many feeder school boys who qualify for Express stream choose this school. There is a possibility that a feeder boy who scores 200 may not be able to be posted to ACS BR (e.g. 4 Express classes and 160th feeder boy scores 201).

A boy from non-feeder school with t-score of 24x stands a good chance to be posted to this school. In addition, those who put ACS BR as its first choice will likely stand a better chance if appeal is needed (aware that there are few who opted to go to international schools for secondary school education after release of posting results, so there may be vacancies opened to those who wish to appeal).

As for those who qualify for N(A) stream, a high 19x from non-feeder schools also have high possibility of being posted to ACS BR, based on past trend. As for N(T) stream, there is currently one Sec 1 class which only started this year, so no trend to base on.

All the best to all the P6ers getting their results next Thursday!

AppleCrumble
