<![CDATA[All About Pathlight School]]>Hi parents, we have a group of kids in Punggol take a private bus service. Ours pick up timing is about 30mins later than school bus. You can consider if you want to have a later pick up timing. There’s one kid withdrawing from our group from next year so I’m currently looking for one more kid to take up the slot.

I hope to be able to contribute in this aspect as I believe in providing information so that parents can make an informed decision. However please understand that there’s a limit to what I can share as I do not wish to get into trouble with the school.

I’m a registered clinical psychologist who previously worked in PL before moving on to NUH CDU and running my own private practice. Let me know if there’s anything anyone might want to know about PL.

KKH will arrange for an IQ test and assessment to determine whether your child can join mainstream or recommend for SPED. My son’s assessment was done around 4-5 months before start of the primary school / Pathlight registration.

If you decide to apply for Pathlight, KKH will also provide the paperwork for you and the childcare to complete and submit to Pathlight.

Through the school registration process, Pathlight will check back with parents and/or KKH if they need more information or reports as well. HTH!

Same here, I just chanced upon this thread! My gal is going to P1 Standard next year. She has been excited and really looking forward to Pathlight ever since her last visit during the assessment 🙂

Thanks for ur prompt reply. The psychologist said it will be the same if transfer to another mainstream primary.

Today, I found out from my son that now the school don’t even send counsellor to him anymore, citing that he can control himself better now. I had sent an email to the school regarding shadow teacher but there was no reply.

I think the 3 questions which u have indicated above are part of the reasons why my son don’t like the school. I am wondering if I should fix an appointment with the principal for discussion.

The problem seems to be with the current mainstream school. Can consider transfer to a less stressful/more understanding mainstream school?


Ask why the current school did not assign any AED to him? Did they suggest any alternatives like a shadow teacher, external therapy, etc? Is he unhappy in school because of the academic pace? Or any difficulties with the teacher’s style? Or his classmates are not understanding towards him/bullying him?

These are the things which may get better if u can find a better mainstream school that is experienced and suited to his pace. Eg a less popular all-boys school may have the wealth of experience to guide you and the child.

i need advice from parents whose children are already in path light primary school. my son is in mainstream P3. he is diagnosed with ADHD first, then ASD & followed by dysgraphia (difficulty in writing). although the school (a popular school) didn’t ask us to transfer him to pathlight, they also didn’t assign any AED to him except counsellor (who is not very experienced in my view) even after meeting up with CGC psychologist in the school.

CGC psychologist advised me to transfer him to path light as he is unhappy in school. pn the other hand, my hb is unwilling to let him try the ADHD medicine. i have read about many positive reviews of path light in this forum but my friends are also worried about the stigma that will stay with my child forever. also, he is considered high functioning & sensitive, so they don’t think that going to path light is a good idea.

hence, i am in dilemma now. need assurance from u all who have been through these.

My DD is also starting P1 at Pathlight in 2019. I’m very excited, anxious and worried too...being a first time parent preparing my DD for primary school. I hope my DD can cope with the new environment, people, and lifestyle at Pathlight. My DD is timid, shy and doesn’t speak much. But she likes to have friends and play with friends. Just that she doesn’t express much and not sure how to converse with friends. She has always been alone as she’s my only child. She doesn’t have cousin her age. I hope she can make more friends in Pathlight and enjoys her new chapter in life there.

To Muaji, Lovejetty, OceanLuv and all parents whose child is enrolling with Pathlight in 2019... Congratulations!!! :rahrah: And cya all around. 😄

Lastly, does anyone knows what time the Pathlight School bus usually comes for pick up in the morning? I live in Punggol by the way. I am having headache big time... finding for transportation for my DD. Any carpool service from Punggol to Pathlight?
