i concur with you.

i dread ironing, therefore, i wish i get a Laura Star as a present.... :drool:

why Laura Star...probably cos i am overwhelm by the demo. if it can cut down ironing time n the price comes down...i might just bite the bullet & get it.

any LS users here? really hands-on user not those who leave it to their maid to use it.

I bought the Laura Star after trying it at a demo some years ago. Hands down the best ironing system I have ever used in my life.

The high presssure steam from the iron plus the built-in fan on the ironing board simplifies and greatly shortens the ironing time. Can even use it to steam-clean your own clothing - no need to send to dry cleaners. In summary, it really works. After using it, you don't want to go back using your old equipment.

We used to have a part-time helper then and she commented to my wife that she is very lucky to have a husband buy her such an ironing system :imanangel:

I like the adjustable height, which is pretty useful when ironing curtains and bedsheets. I can also iron my Tshirts easily, as it is broad enough. The wheels also make keeping convenient. This ironing board makes my ironing easier. 😄 Agree that the iron is also important. 🕺

2)Leifheit - The Airboard
3)Hills -The Orbit

Can you share if you have used the ironing boards of these brands? TIA.
I am using Brabantia size B and quite happy with it. It's very stable and does not rock like the cheap ones sometimes do. Do bear in mind that their covers and padding are expensive but you can easily find cheaper alternatives.

I would never consider that in the past. But after years of struggling with poorly manufactured products, I just might. And if I iron often (myself instead of domestic helper), it might just make me enjoy the chore a little bit more. This is how I rationalise it in my mind, but it will be a struggle in the store with the wallet ready to pay ! 😓


If its a good investment, why not? Think of the joy of ironing n the time/efforts saved. 😄

After using various types, like what is said ‘the quality is somehow determined by the price you pay’ sometimes. A costlier one will have a lot more features(eg. broader, adjustable height, better covers, sturdier, etc.) that can make your life easier and the gadget a joy to use. Ultimately, the choice remains with the one buying and/or using.

No appliance can last more than 2-5 years now. 😂

My post was saying the $200 branded board can last maybe 20yrs (coz my mom's board is almost that age). Not talking about electrical appliances.

We all know how long our $50 ironing boards can last. Mine’s a hand-me-down from my mom…


Like any branded item, buy it if you like it and can afford it. If household income is high and you don’t usually buy branded luxury items for fun, just buy the branded board to make yourself happy. Just be sure about it and not regret the purchase.

Mine came together with the iron and cost 10x more.

To me its well worth the $ since i only iron once a week, 2-3 hr and clear the whole family's clothing eg. hub & mine work clothes, children's school uniform x 3 etc..
Which brand is your iron and the ironing board?

Does your ironing board have features like: adjustable height, wide width for ironing T-shirts, a good quality cover, warranty,etc.?

I can’t even remember how much mine cost, and since I’ve had it for over 15yrs (since moved into this flat), the cost will be out of date. Unless it can last you for several years? One average ironing board can last me for pretty long. Easily over a year or two. Just that we have to change the cover maybe every 8months or less.


I think the cost benefit don't really match for a $200 ironing board. Two ironing boards = 1 ipad air with data plan. Perhaps that might be a good comparison to bring my point across 😄
