I don’t remember much about the post-surgery food other than me being fed a lot of ice cream to reduce the inflammation. Other than that, I don’t recall any complications from the surgery so always thought it to be relatively straightforward.

If your DS has to undergo surgery, I hope she’ll have as easy a time as I did. The ice cream flavors are certainly better these days to say the least.

My family and friends depend a lot on Vit C. Good to do some research.

World Experts shared about Vit C in NZ....
http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/GE1902/S00026/world-experts-in-nz-to-share-latest-research-on-vitamin-c.htm

Quote
Also revealed will be the important and emerging role of vitamin C in helping treat infection. Until recently it was thought that a recommended daily intake of vitamin C was sufficient for healthy living. But evidence is now clear that the body consumes more vitamin C when infected and sick, requiring increased intake to restore depleted levels. New international pharmacokinetic studies show that when intensive care (ICU) patients are given enough vitamin C to restore healthy levels, clinical outcomes are dramatically improved, death rates are markedly reduced, and time spent in ICU is shorter.
Unquote

Headache2010

Reply to Tonsils surgery on Wed, 09 Oct 2019 02:42:23 GMT

I would like to share what happened to my nephew. Since she was a child her tonsils always give her pain. Our family doctor already adviced her to undergo surgery but she is afraid at first. Earlier this year, her tonsils strikes again. Even if it is against her will, our family decided to have her undergo Tonsillectomy because if her tonsils won’t be removed, the infection may already reach her heart.

She said my boy’s tonsils are normal and not enlarged! Luckily I went to see her

She did a scope for him and found his nasal airway blocked with mucus. She also did a swap test to check for bacteria infection, then blood test for airborne and food allergens. It was found that my boy is allergic to dustmites (the common cause), paper dust and cockroaches.

I’m so glad to have found her. She was very detailed and thorough. Though pricey, it was worth the money spent.

But adenoids whether swollen or not you need to do a scope. It can be very uncomfortable for the child but if the specialist is well trained with kids I think it will be helpful. To be sure I think still better to seek a second opinion and get scope done.

She was down with a serious of viral infections and ended up with her having breathing difficulties and unable to sleep. Our gp insisted she would be ok and nasal spray would be sufficient. After few weeks things didn’t improve and we got the gp to refer an ent specialist. She did the scope for my girl and found enlarged tonsils and adenoids. She recommended to remove them. We were torn between going for second opinion first or going for it. Seeing the discomfort she was in, we went for it. So far so good. Some people say the adenoids and tonsils are the body’s first line of defense so unless it’s absolutely necessary, otherwise try not to remove. After the op I heard of Dr Lynne Lim who is ent specialist for kids… if I had known earlier I might have gone for her due to her experience with kids. It’s good to seek a second opinion if not urgent case.
