Since her passport expires July 2015, does it mean i should renew passport. Cos otherwise the WP wont be a full 2 years? (her WP expired Aug 2014).

Does the Indonesian Embassy do passport renewal so early (i.e. 1 year ahead of expiry) ?

Can i just check - do i need to go embasssy to ‘renew’ contract’?
Or i just need to in July 2014, purchase maid insurance (with NTUC in my case), and then 2 days later access MOM website to renew WP? From the posts above, there’s an option to deliver WP to home address?

As for passport, i dont need to renew now right? Can wait till mid-2015? Cos I am not sure if renwal of WP is contingent on passport having a number of months of validity.

It can be done online. as easy as 1,2,3. DIY cost only $30. No need to make any trip or running around.


First: Just call up any insurance company to enquire Maid insurance. Over phone, they will settle for you, costs ranging from $250-320, depending on coverage. Payment made by credit card. They will ask you for credit card info to settle payment. I use Great Eastern.

Second: Two days later, MOM system will auto update to reflect you have renewed insurance for your maid. Then go online to renew wp, follow instructions, step by step. Make online credit card payment of $30.

Third: a few days later, will receive sms from MOM, telling you the card will be delivered to your home address on certain time and date. Be there to receive the card coz need recipient's signature.

Besides renewing with her insurance / bond , what other costs involved? I am thinking of doing it online myself. My agent quoted me $180 ( said $120 for updates which he didn’t specify what they are and $60 for "running-around". )


I intend to let helper visit family in Mar and her passport valid till 2017. besides applying for levy waiver, do I need to take note of any other items? There’s no need to apply for exit permit etc?

Everything is done via WPOL. Follow the steps are easy. Get ready maid new insurance (automatically updated 2 days later by insurance company to MOM), copy of maid passport, security bond’s letter (signed by employer and witness) and maid signed letter of consent of renewal. All must be in pdf format to be uploaded during renewal. Currently MOM provide service to deliver WP Card to employer. All information required for delivery of card must be provided during renewal.

I renewed my Indo maids passport few years ago. However at that time did not hv KTLN card etc. i remember had to take maid to embassy as both employer n maid need to sign agreement in front of embassy officer. 2 visits in total at that time !

I have done it myself many times. First You need to buy insurance and security bond . I bought from NTUC with waiver indemnity to limit my liabilty

The security bond details get updated in 1-2 days and once you log in WPOL , reflect automatically in relevant column. very easy step by step form to fill up and submit with documents if required . You can go check after few days status and once in principle approval received , need to print security bond letter signed by witness and go to MOM with relevant documents(renewal letter signed by both employer n maid, passport, WP ,etc listed on date stated on the in principle letter.
