My mum was a seamstress. I grew up with the humming of sewing machine as the background music. Watched mum did the bobbin, the sewing etc. I grew up thinking I would never want to sew.


Well, I never know what's installed for me. After becoming a mum, I actually wanted to do sewing. Been eyeing at sewing machines for a while now. Always tempted YO bring one home.

As tofu boy is in the childcare centre, many things need to label. When I was a little girl, my mum would embroider my name on my uniforms or anything which require a name label and that the label could be sewn on.

Years on, I actually wanted to do the same for my son. When I had the time, I would embroider his names on the labels and when needed, I just sew the labels onto whatever that needed labeling. My work definitely not professional but still, it attracted the attention of the teachers.

Heng my son's english name quite short....

This week, I have been thinking of sewing a colour pencil case for my son. Now, the school require the kids to bring their own stationery. His colour pencil paper box is giving way (just two weeks!) and I was thinking it would be great if he could put the colour pencils in a case...

I think one way to help our children to be less temperamental is to involve them in household chores so that they can put themselves in our shoes, understand where we r coming from.

Over the last sch hol, I find my elder boy is more gentle when we disagree on sth.

Jen, your elder boy is such a gem. Not many teens, especially boys, will stay home and help their parents with chores and learn to bake.

2014 new yr resolutions...mmmm.... usually I tried not to set resolutions so that I don't need to do it :rahrah:


some wishes for 2014 :
1) boy to be more independent
2) girl be less temperamental
3) I hope to pick up iceskating so I can iceskating with my 2 kids
(still no courage to step onto the rink). Plan to go without maid.
4) dh to take care of health and not to be too stressful over work.

taz, let me share my woes with you -

1)boy to be more independent - I think you need to wait for a few more years. Generally boys take a much longer time to 'grow up'. I am still waiting for my ds to be so n he is 15 this year. :oops:

2)girl to be less temperamental - I think you also need to wait for a few more years. At her age, her hormones are raging so you can expect mood swings. I had a tough time with my dd when she was at your dd's age. Its slightly better now as I have learnt how to handle her mood swings over these few years.
