I'm just 'anal', cos I eat salad quite often! <br /><br />Another reason is knives are shaped uniquely for diff purposes.  Meat knives are pointed at the end for u to pierce thru raw meat.  Veggie knives are rounded at the end.  Fruit knives are smaller and some come with a curved blade.  Cleavers are for \"slapping\" garlics and cutting melons.  Bread knives are elongated and hv zigzag blades which are better at slicing loafs.  Cheese knives hv holes so that cheese doesn't get stuck each time u slice...Butter knives are bended like spades which enables u to spread the grease better.
