Suburbs are not diff to navigate. Roads are very wide and parking lots are spacious like those in Australia and Canada. It takes an idiot to bang someone else's car in such a huge open carpark. Shopping mall basement carparks and multi-storey carparks are not small either, so don't worry.

City traffic is not fast moving, contrary to what you think, because of city speed limits imposed by the local municipality. Have some loose dimes if you're parking along the sidewalk, esp in Chinatown or some ethnic quarters.

Lock all valuables in your boot. Like buying your own airfares and driving on your own? I don't know much about package tours from Singapore. If you need the sites where we usually book hotels at better rates, that's not a problem. I don't know how you feel about staying in motels/hotels in Anaheim. Let me know. For San Francisco, you'll want to stay in the city (best around Union Square) or near the Marina. Easier public transport. What kind of budget are you looking at? You can join the city tours. Not sure if you're interested in the hot air balloon ride in Napa. Very scenic and fun. 8 and 6 yr olds will enjoy the Bay Area Discovery Museum, I think. Train town is fun but it's all the way up Sonoma.
