One to one by good current school teacher can range from 40+ to 130+ (going to tuition centre type, not home tuition).

In any case, parents should understand kids work and parents should try to have more contact time with the tutor to uncover if the tutor is bullshitting to be sure if you are spending your money worth, regardless of the price. Expensive may / may not be good, cheap may not be no good.

I still remember in my days, I had tuition from Sec 2 (when my result start to screwup) to Sec 4 at this home of the tutor at $50 flat (consider very cheap also at my time) for Maths, Add Maths, Chemistry and Physics in a group of 20+ students. When I was first day there, I was shock to find my school's top student also there. Later I find a few top school's students also there. His fee is cheap, his class is so interesting that I never hesitate to go tuition, :lol:

What is the line to categorise have $ and have not $ in Singapore (developed country)?

Can we consider ourselves who can spend time in forum like this the 'have' category? Or 'have but not enough' category? Then is there 'have enough' category?

Yep, it is about who has the money to afford, and if this goes on, the ones with the money will be the ones who make it to better schools. I have written about this a dozen times and raised this a million times to the 'people in charge' but they have fallen on deaf ears.

We'll see, there is a clear divide, even amongst the 12-year-olds, between the haves and the have-nots.

Sad...

In just another decade or two, the gap between the rich and poor will widen further, just like in other developed countries. Don't they see it? Can't they see it? Even school teachers are lazy enough to encourage tuition.

Let's give school teachers due credit for teaching their students well and we must have confidence in their professionalism, and praise diligent students for doing well in school.

The whole session end with these kids said lovely thing to their parents in front of all !


After all, I think all these are not really effective ! dont waste money. It is a long term task, only parents can do it.
