Agree. it's closest to Calmex in taste but not that close in price.

BTW, do look out during the year for good buys. NTUC was selling for close to 100 for the black can some months ago. Since can keep....better to buy during off peak and wait till CNY.

Not really. Went to an abalone farm in Australia and a chef was there demonstrating how to prepare frozen thawed abalone. They prepare it like steak. Sear it, then slice it while it is still sizzling in the pan, add seasoning, flambe and serve. Very yummy.

Bought some back and cooked it the same way. It is more chewy than the canned ones but not that tough. We like the chewiness.

Mil would give us horse brand abalone.

We don’t normally braise it. It’s either for soups or porridge.
