It’s the transport and labour charge.<br /><br /><br />The other day I arranged for the toilet bowl service, the standard transport n labour cost 2 times more than the spare parts.  Now that I know how to replace the spare parts, if I get the same prob next time, I will DIY.</p>

I do not have the tools to DIY i.e. Big plyer to turn the U join and I think the white string thingy is needed at the joins to prevent leakage. Non HDB.</p>

I always do that and when calling them, always emphasize that you got his no. from HDB so he won’t over-charge.</p>
