It does take consistent encouragement from family and friends to help with ongoing motivation. I guess we - as parents - have to be good role models so that our kids can see why we hope they manage to achieve their objectives.

I've had a number of students attend Adam Khoo workshops, and while I don't want to pass a bad word about fellow colleagues in the industry, my takeaway from my students' feedback is what's been echoed by mothernancy and bestwishes. However, on the other side of the fence, I've also heard second-hand accounts of success stories too, so make what you will of that.

Personally, motivating the kids is a significant part of my pedagogy. This is best done in the context of the particular subject. So this means having teachers who really understand the particular subject matter, have real world experience, and enjoy it themselves. That genuine interest and enthusiasm will rub off on the students.

Also, another thing that is a big motivator is a student who develops the confidence that they can think and figure things out themselves, rather than being told what to memorize.

As for my own science education, I was never turned on much by motivational speakers, because I gained my motivation through the two channels I mentioned above.
