I assume this to mean the cut off for affiliation varies from school to school. So it may not be a blanket 1 to 2 points off but individualized according to each of the schools that allow affiliated intake. As this is still in development, we just have to wait and see.

Independent schools express stream cut off at 10 AL points will be for non-affiliated students. I expect the cut off to be significantly lower for affiliated students. More likely will reflect the current cut offs.

Looking forward to more information next year.

From 2021, if MOE does not provide blanket wide discount 1 or 2 points, then is still up to individual Affliated Secondary school, to see how much advantage they want to give

Interestingly, there are different ways of implementing discount points. Only in 2021 end of June, then we will know how each Affliated Secondary school, want to play the game.

Below, is merely open up for discussion, nothing definite nor concrete.

1) can give zero discount point

If affliated P6 students want to go back to their respective affliated Secondary school, as long as they can meet the Cut-off-point, they will be able to enter first, before rest of the other Non affliated students, because based on students' birth-cert number, can easily identify which ex primary school, the P6 pupil come from.

Yes, giving zero discount point, can also be a form of affliation, as long as can identify which was their ex primary school, and grant them privilege to enter first before others.

2) some schools may give only 1 discount point

So far, Catholic High (affliation Tscore at 240) and St Nick (affliation Tscore at 230), are the highest Affliation Tscore Secondary schools, amongst all O-level schools in Singapore.

so, if these 2 schools choose to continue maintain high standard, perhaps these two schools may give only 1 discount point.

3) some schools may be more generous, give 2 discount points instead of just 1 miserable advantaged point

E.g.

CHIJ Toa Payoh,
CHIJ Katong,
CHIJ St Theresa Secondary

Paya Lebar Methodist Girls Secondary

Currently,
with Tscore 200, affliated students from these three CHIJ primary schools, can go back study for O-level

For PLMGS Girls Secondary-
was it at Tscore 205,

their P6 girls can go back study O level ?

For CHIJ Toa Payoh Secondary,
with such a big whopping difference of 46 points,

based on 2019 PSLE cohort,

since external students COP for IJ Toa Payoh was 246,
while affliation P6 students was 200,
think CHIJ Toa Payoh Sec probably give ...
2 discount points.

===========================

How about (SCGS and MGS) P6 girls? What you all think ?
Their Affliation Tscore currently is 220

so, both (SCGS and MGS),
give 1 or
give 2 discount advantaged points, for O-level track ?

I suppose, if they want to maintain around Tscore 220 under AL, then maybe give 2 points.

But, if they want to seize this AL implementation opportunity to \"up\" their Affliation standard, ie. to go above Tscore 220, then may be they give 1 point discount.

=========================

How about boys' Secondary schools like
ACS Barker Sec,
Marris Stella,
SJI affliation, for O-level track ?

We will know MOE answer, by end of 2021 end of June, next year announcement

But hey, new academic year 2021 is coming soon. Now is already Nov 2020. Usually, in January when brand new academic year start, there is a briefing given by P, to 2021 P6 (parents and students). So maybe come Next January, will know give how many discount points, no need to wait until end of June neck so long, then know.

Due to covid-19,
even if 2021 P6 parents cannot sit inside school hall premises to hear Principal briefing, conduct the briefing over online zoom, I am sure many P6 parents will still be keen to attend online, agree ?

phtthp

Reply to All About Affiliations between Pri & Sec Schools on Thu, 06 Aug 2020 02:19:14 GMT

phtthp\" post_id=\"1989400\" time=\"1596602703\" user_id=\"35251:

MummyY\" post_id=\"1989378\" time=\"1596597762\" user_id=\"184520:
With a new minister.. A high difference is a good indication that they are not accepting enough non-affiliate:
E.g. PLMGS (206 vs 250), ACS Barker (188 vs 241).

Obviously, it won’t be the only factor. Eg SMSS (200 vs 240). The relative cohort size of the primary / secondary section, eg PLMGS (270 pri vs 250ish sec), and the popularity of the school vs alternatives (eg mid-tier CHIJ schools vs orher girls’ schools) will come into play.

floppy
