Consult a healthcare provider or dermatologist for personalized advice, as what works for one person may not work for another due to the individual nature of eczema. Look for emollients, fragrance-free and hypoallergenic products, and online reviews to find the best option. Consider lifestyle changes like avoiding triggers, using gentle soaps, and keeping the skin well-hydrated. Ask for samples from dermatologists or doctors to try different products before committing to a full-size product.

It used to be so bad that welts will form every other minute.

I totally went cold turkey on steroids and any meds/anti-histamines that the doctors gave. Instead, I flushed my system with lots of liquids (mainly tea - if you read online, the ancient Chinese folks use tea as medicine), stopped scratching, slept earlier (liver helps with detox best during 10pm-2am) and basically tried to re-wire my system. The flare ups never got so bad anymore after 2 weeks. I ignore any small irritations and I dare say that the situation really improved a lot.

Try alternative therapies like hynotherapy too! Can help to re-wire your deep consciousness so the brain learns not to trigger the flare ups.

It helps to know what the triggers are via skin prick test, but can also give the above a try cos I find it troublesome to schedule the tests, and likely I might not even quit those foods that cause the symptoms (like eggs or chilli).

Shazz here. Came across this thread and would like to share some advice, I hope it helps!

Eczema can be due to multiple factors, a malfunctioning immunity is one of them. Other factors include poor gut health, exposure to potential allergens or environmental toxins and so on.

In TCM terms, eczema is usually linked to deficiencies in Qi (vital energy) especially in the spleen, kidney and liver. This results in a weakened immunity, causing one to be more susceptible to external pathogenic factors such as wind, heat, cold and dampness – this is more evident in kids.

Essentially, by making sure that your immune system is working at its best helps to prevent pathogens from entering the body which causes flare-ups. It is also best to also avoid steroid/chemical-based products to prevent potential side effects in the long run especially for kids as their skin is more delicate.

To understand better, you can read more here:
https://www.orientalremediesgroup.com/eczema-topical-steroid-withdrawal-how-does-tcm-help/

Here's also an article with a comprehensive list of tips and other reliable solutions to help you manage your eczema depending on your symptoms. While the article focuses on children, the recommendations here are definitely applicable to both children and adults (especially if you are looking for a gentler option!)

Hope that helps~ 😊

ShazzAJ

Reply to Eczema problems, Allergy & Rashes...Solutions... on Tue, 08 Dec 2020 09:45:58 GMT

Eczema is really hard especially if the one experiencing is just a child. The itching and scratching can be distressing for your kid, and it can increase their risk for skin infections. Eczema in children can affect their sleep, physical comfort, self-image, and social interactions. Controlling and managing the eczema symptoms in children helps prevent food allergy. That’s because it will help them to have healthy skin, which protects their immune system from being exposed to food allergens. This will make your child’s skin barrier function better to prevent the irritants from getting in. Moreover, if the first exposure to food is through the digestive tract of your child, their immune system will more likely tolerate the food.
