the only reason why family members would hope the plane can be found, is for a closure...even though the bodies will never be. it's indeed very very tragic just like the other MH plane which was shot down by a missile.

Most of the airplane is made up of aluminium (newer planes like B787, A350, B777x will be mainly made up of composite materials). In the ocean, aluminium can take up to 200 years to disintegrate. There is still about 190+ years to locate the plane before it totally disintegrate / disappear.

The bodies, though, should be mostly gone by now.

The ocean takes up about 71% of Earth's space, yet 95% of that ocean is completely unexplored.

Unluckily, the plane happen to fall into that 95% space.

I flew on MAS a number of times, the most recent was in October 2016. The service and food are quite OK. I hope the families of the people in that plane can find closure soon.
