Even little bits of milk products found in common foods like bread, biscuits and a lot of processed food will affect him. He avoids as much a he can, and takes lactase when he can’t avoid. It runs in his family, and I think it has something to do with his family being poor (milk was expensive) and traditional, so they hardly had milk products growing up and probably lost the ability to digest milk along the way. I am giving my girls milk every day in the hopes that they never lose the ability to digest milk. They are in their teens, and so far, so good.

They only get stomachache when they drink milk on empty stomach. I thought it is whole day intolerance for me until I talked to them and realized that it only happens on empty stomach.

DS was very skinny until P6. I only breastfed him for 2 weeks because I got chicken pox at that time. Sometimes I wish I had breastfed him longer. He was also premature by 2 weeks. Sometimes I also wonder whether things would have been different if I had tried to keep him longer in my womb for another week. So, Jen, we did what we had done based on our BEST knowledge at that time so don't be too hard on yourself. We should focus on now and the future. :hugs:

ngl2010

Reply to Choice of milk powders for 5 years & 7 years on Fri, 21 Mar 2014 22:54:25 GMT

ngl2010:

Jennifer:
Lactose intolerant runs in hubby's family.

I am lactose intolerant too.
