<![CDATA[Possible for PSLE result to be wrong??]]>Hi, my daughter got 3 A* in English, Maths and Science plus 1 A in Chinese. Her score is 253 only. I am wondering if there is an error somewhere? Wondering if I should ask MOE to audit or is this normal?

My son's PSLE in 2007. His classmate get 3A* 1A his total is 253. My son 2A*in M&S, 2A in E&C but he got 260. His teacher said his M&S got a very high grade in A* range.
Sorry, I checked with my son, his classmate with 3A*and 1A got agg 248 not 253.

If I am not wrong, the review can only take place with support of the school. Have to apply through school. Therefore if the school does not think that there's anything wrong , one cannot get it even if you are willing to pay. Not very sure about the process but heard it's something along this line...

I checked on DS2 Maths paper and didn't have to pay anything. I submitted a form together with copies of his report card to justify my case. The principal will ask you why you think there is a mistake and sign on the form to show his support. In other words, the principal will verify your case and grant you his support. Maybe to make sure it is a bona fide case and not wasting their time. 😉

Cindy, if you don't mind me butting in cos' I believe there is a deadline for reviews and besides, whilst you are pondering, the submission deadline for school selection is already over.
It can go either way. Do you want to risk it?


I am indeed grateful for your concern as well as everyone else in this thread. I feel so much more at peace now. Decided to leave the score alone. Have sent out all 6 choices and will hope for the best. Everything is probably predestined anyway, no need to be so kiasu, ha ha. :lol: :lol:

Furthermore the $50 review is for 1 subject only - if you don’t know which subject you suspect to have an error, you may have to pay $200 to have all 4 subjects reviewed.


Finally the review result will be out in about a month’s time, maybe after the posting results.

Later, I had second thoughts because what if after checking, they say the score should be lower and not higher? This thought freaked me out! :!: I heard that more difficult to score in languages, so the student who do very well for languages will get high aggregate because of the T-score thinggy.

the double weightage for languages was scrapped since 1985, 24 years ago. Now all subjects are of equal importance.

Imagine a person having 4A can have a lower Tscore than someone with 3A*s 1A. Its not a mistake by SEAB but its the quality of the grades that counts.


Unless you are talking about marking error, you can chose to pay $50 to have the paper checked, sometimes that can do wonders to ur child’s grades…

Don't think anyone but MOE knows. Also TScore is different for different subjects.

I doubt so. My son got the same grades as your daughter but only 251. Based on his prelim results, this is the min score he should get (335/400 x 0.75 = 251). However, he only get A* for Maths and A for the rest. It does seems that he has done better based on the A*/A for PSLE but I'm sure they are low A* except for Maths. I'm happy that he managed to pull in A* for English and Science for PSLE. :celebrate: Compared to his whole class, the result is fairly consistent. If you read through other threads or posts in this forum, you may have a better understanding of how the T score is calculated. I understand how you feel cos I was also feeling a bit disappointed at first that he scored the min expected score. I was hoping that he pulled in 260 or so. Anyway, we should be happy that our children have done well and ranked among the top 10%. :celebrate: Let's move on and help them prepare for the next milestone. 💋
