This brings back memories of school and reading literature and watching plays. Those were the days. Is this still going on??

You are obviously young. I don't know when it started but surely it's only been for a few years? I was hoping to go with my girls but they went with their schools. Maybe I'll try to go next year (offer to be a parent chaperone?).

Insect repellent
Hand held fans (although starhub, one of the sponsors, was distributing them)
A picnic basket (those are being sold there but i did not check the price)
Drinks
Some cheap straw mats or old blankets
Some rubbish bags to clear the rubbish later

On the whole, I had a great time. There was wonderful food, wine and company to complement the play!

My daughter brought a plastic bag to sit on which also doubled up as a trash bag at the end. Her class brought pizza and snacks to share. Sounded like fun.

The setting of the play was somewhat futuristic.

The background music was a fusion of trans like and middle eastern.

For die hard shakespeare fans, this may be a little hard to digest.

The cast did an excellent job. Kudos to Julia Woo who played Portia and Ramesh Panicker who was Shylock.

I think school going kids will enjoy the play cuz they can relate to the futuristic elements of the play ie the use of handphones to receive messages instead of the actual letter itself in the play.

The weather was pleasant yesterday night. I only started perspiring after the play, when all the spotlights were switched on. Although i brought insect repellent, i didn't have to use it.

For those who are going, you can bring:
Insect repellent
Hand held fans (although starhub, one of the sponsors, was distributing them)

Feedback from my daughter was that it was pretty good. She enjoyed it although she said some of her friends didn't get the story, were bored, complained of the heat... She met up with friends at the MRT station, but those who claimed to know the way also got lost! Luckily they had met early enough that they got in just as the play was starting. My younger daughter goes in 2 weeks time, so I'll see what her review is. At least I'm quite sure this one won't get lost!

Dinosaurs here! This daughter is the one who hasn't moved onto smartphone yet! And neither have I. I will print out a map even if I go with her. Even with a map, I'm not sure I trust her to find her way - she's like my mother, can get lost in familiar places, let alone new ones.

OT: I have a simple smartphone but am using only the whatsapp occasionally.
So I am quite old fashioned too.
I see everywhere, young or adult, merely looking at their mobile phones. I dont think this is healthy at all.
I am proud to be not one of them. 😂

You can get your dd to use gother.sg app. You can go anywhere in SIngapore and never get lost. My kids use it when they are on their own transport traveling to unfamiliar places.
