But population is dwindling so we don’t think the price will increase a lot.

We also got offer for UK property near an old airport. Seriously? Air traffic there is stagnant so we declined the offer.

Jakarta only allows foreigners to buy high end condos. The problem is the rich don’t want to stay in condos. The poor only buy low end condos. It will be hard to rent it out. There are many new condos popping up also. So better to buy landed but need locals’ names to buy landed property. Need to have trustworthy locals. Price has been stagnant for the past 2-3 years because economy is not good. It maybe good time to buy. Maybe only. Politics is not stable there so it is another factor to consider.

Hong Kong now has increased its stamp duty so it is no longer a good time to buy there. Some states in Australia has also imposed tax on overseas buyers. The price has also increased a lot. Not sure whether it is property bubble. We regretted we didn't buy a property in Macau a few years ago. The price has tripled. We didn't go there recently so we don't know how the property market there now. However, Macau buildings didn't have regulations on typhoon so they suffered a lot recently. I heard USA has complicated property tax gain. Yet to venture there but the price had exceeded 2008 price. Property bubble? China is attractive but we don't have any trustworthy relatives that we can tag along to buy. We usually have trustworthy local relatives that we partnered because they know the location, market, regulations, developer, etc better than we are.

Don't buy in JB.
