Some are really slower, like mine. My child need more maintenance class because of his "emo" portion that kicks in. He has very low self esteem, I cannot use the hard way on him unlike other child. BASC change one after another because even the teacher also buey tahan.

On a few ocassion after I brought him for "maintenance", he will be able to concentrate on thing he is doing again.

To be able to fully activate this concentration, daily training is a must. Just doing few mins of brain gym, eyeball exercise and breathing exercise.

My boy did not make good use of the program and did not do daily training, the activation is already there, but he cannot concentrate fully on study because he did not train he mind daily. As I mentioned, he needs the "soft-approach". I cannot force him though I keep asking him "then when you want to do?" Of course when I prompt him, he gets frustrated. If he gets frustrated, the training cannot work because the brain is not at its best state. He will not do, throw tantrums, cry, shout rudely back at me…When I am not asking him (or when I am not looking), he will suddenly be doing the mind training exercise. [At least I know from here, he wants to do, but do not want me to "ask" him to do].

If you ask me "does this help to improve attention span?".
My answer is "Yes".

To be frank, GMA program does not make him smarter directly, but indirectly. The program extent his attention span as in better concentration, better in study or in thing he does. Somewhat he could walk toward "positive" than negative. If he can concentrate better, he gets smarter.

IMO, do the GMA program first prior to sending child for more tuition class outside.

I believe your child is not as difficult as mine. Your child should be able to benefit more, at least faster, than mine.

I believe GMA and GMC were totally different orgz, or have I misunderstood?

In fact I’d brought my son for the 2 days workshop at Genius Mind Academy (GMA) before i googled onto this thread. After reading some of the posts, (good and bad ones), I would like to share my own experience here and parents here can justify if it’s really a scam.

For us, my son had improved quite a lot after the 2 days activation. On the next day, we blindfolded & tested him with the cards again and he actually got a few wrong cards. I did not tell him the cards are wrong, but instead I praised him for his effort he tried and he believe that he said the correct cards. His confidence grew. Following the next few days, he got all the pictures card correct.

He is more sensitive now, in the sense that he can understand me more. During the 1st week after activation of his mid-brain, we went to buy some grocery and textbooks. As my hb worked that day, we had to walk and carry all the heavy stuffs home. It was very hot. I was so surprised that my son offered to carry the textbooks without me asking him to do so. He could jolly-well carry nothing, or choose other lighter grocery like the bread, but he chose to carry the heavy textbooks. My son has never offer to carry anything before unless we asked him to do so, and he would grumble. However, that day his action made me touched. I was very sure that was one of the improvement after the mid-brain activation. His sensitivity had improved.

Up till today (2nd week), he was able to tell me the word I wrote on a piece of paper, blindfolded, whether English or Chinese. I have not yet try writing "long sentense" asking him to read yet. I do not want to discourage him at this stage in case he can’t read blindfolded yet.

I am not here to sing praise for GMA. I am just sharing my own experience we had with GMA on the positive stuffs. I do see improvement on my son and to me, nothing is more important than seeing positive happening on him.

I am now looking forward to helping him to improve his memory and confident with this "skill" he acquired.

From the graducation ceremony you can feel the love and care from the coaches and trainer. The children felt so blessed that they got the new skills. For once, they have people believe in them. Best way to check it out is to talk the students from APS that have activated and the APS teacher as well.

However, we need to be careful who we send our kids to. I just came to know they are new operators doing the same. Am not sure if they have licence to do it. As for GMA, they have license to do it and they have engaged lawyers to do it. I personally knows the lawyer and that is why I am comfortable with the company.

Like all parents we want to give our children the best but we have to cautious where we send them for the courses.

Both benefited deeply.

My girl from low self confidence to a very confidence girl.
She went when she was P6 and now she is in Sec 1. Her memory has definitely improves that she took shorter time to study and yet score for all her papers. She had never been top few in class from P1 to P5.
My boy was not strongly activated the first time round. The company has invited him back for another activation. This time he is strongly activated. Pretty much immediate as the moment he jumped into the car, he was so exctied that he did it!
My boy has improved his memory after the activation and has improved his grade in his P4. Now he is in P5. I would say his result after activation is not as rewarding as his elder sister. Nonetherless I would not say the activation doesn’t work. After the activation, the motivation coming from the family is very important. As my boy is coached by his aunt who was a teacher, she is always sending negative comments to my boy. That kind of sending his learning curve down. My girl is luckier as my sister cannot teach her anymore as she is in Sec 1.
So to all parents that sent your kids for mid brain activation, have faith in them. Not everyone gets activated straight away. Some takes time. As parents we have to believe, encourage and shower them with love. This sound logic for parents that have been doing it. But I seen quite a fair bit parents that sent their kids for activation, expect miracles overnight, give undue pressure and back remarks to the kids. Thus the kids cannot perform blindfolded. But when they are sent back to GMA for maintainance they did it fabulously well. So as parents we need to sometimes reflect ourselves. I am not a perfect mother. When sometimes out of anger I gave negative strokes, my children will remind me. The best way to ensure whatever courses that we sent our kids to, the first thing is parents have to have strong faith and belief. If one doesn’t not believe mid brain activation works than don’t try it. But I would say you deprive your kids of the potential to excel better. Seeing my 2 children results, I have no regrets sending them. What’s more, my children were from 2nd batch. At that point, GMA was not form, no maintainance class, everything was not as organise as now. To all parents, the best way to check if something really works is to go and find out from the company yourself. No point hearing from others especially if you do not know them. Many a time critical parents, their children process an attitude towards learning. Cheers

I’m sure you’ll agree that there are a lot of fake testimonials on the web.

The point is not in the testimonials but in the achievement of the students. If the students can achieve this ability, the program can be used for the blind, for social good. That has not been the case, despite you pointing out the fact that they are a socially responsible corporation, not out to fleece people of their hard earned cash. I’ve yet to hear of stories where students can tell the contents of a sealed box. That would be a very good demonstration of the student’s abilities. At GMA, this is the first time they felt that ‘I am a Genius’ and ‘I can do it!’. They could feel that it is not just the words of encouragement coming from the coaches, but that the coaches strongly and sincerely believed in them.

They indeed could do it. This is one of the workshops in GMA that produced the highest number of Super Strongly Activated students. There are so many of them who could tell beyond just black/red. Many of them are able to read books, write, shade pictures, sort colours, read serial number of dollar notes, and IC numbers blindfolded. This is even more incredible considering the whole class are all above the age of 13.

Besides the blindfold reading skills, transformation took place in many students. Day 1, many have low self-confidence (what else, when you have been labelled for years), emotional issues, attention seeking, rebellious. By day 2, many become more confident, cleared the bulk of their emotional issues and became lovable and adorable.

Another of their marketing strategy. PLEASE enough of all these. You must be working for GMC other you won't use the words 'OUR COACHES' in your writeup.

Kelly888

Reply to Genius Mind Academy - Community Thread on Fri, 14 Oct 2011 23:34:02 GMT

My girl went for the course.

And after I read the latest post here, I asked her if she was taught to cheat and look through the little gap. She said, she was told to close her eye lids before putting on the blind fold.

Then I asked further and said, but you can peep through the little gap right and she said yes, and her reply to me was \"why peep, when I can clearly see it in my brain?\"

Well, there are bound to be people who will believe and then of course people from the other camp who are skeptical. it's okay.

Just to share a little something more:
GMA has adopted APS as our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project to make a difference to their students.

Background to Assumption Pathway School:
For students who have challenges with passing PSLE. These students cannot get into main stream secondary schools, and too young to go ITE. Without special schools such as Assumption Pathway School and NortLight School, their only alternative is the street. Many of the students have special needs, are from broken family, or low income group. >50% are on financial assistance. Now we know there's a left brain and a right brain. Left brain is more for logic, numbers, etc while right brain is for emotion, artistic, creativity, etc.

In the interview, they claim that by activating the midbrain, a \"bridge\" will be created so that the child can tap on both side of the brain, thereby creating a more-balanced person with high IQ as well as EQ.
One example quoted was a boy who went from failing Chinese in P5 to scoring A* in PSLE, without changing any other routine or extra tuition...only the brain activation.

Anyone heard of this before? Anyone's child went through the workshop?

that is absolutely bs. If someone told you Harry Potter is actually based on a true story and that there is actually a Ministry of Magic, you would have believed. The main reason why a child fails language is mainly because of disinterest. If a child is interested in something, trust me, there is no reason why the child would not have passed the subject.

In a lot of our daily activities, we use both the right brain and left brain together. To have someone tell you that since you were born, you have never used both brains together is total hogwash. Have you used both arms together, both eyes together, both legs together ? why is it that your brain is an exception ?

To attend this course so that you learn to use both brains together and that this is an ability that needs to be .......er.. I don't know what word to use here because they don't even teach you how to do that, it's just listening to music and watching TV for 2 days, that all of a sudden, \"magically\" links right brain to left brain.

Don't believe in magic, don't believe in short cuts to academic excellence. There are no short cuts, just lots of hard work. This 2 day course will set you back by $1500. Use the money to go on a holiday.

You need to understand how the brain works. There are synapes, links between brain cells. The more linkages, the more intelligent you are, because you have more access to information. It's just like networking with people. The more links you have with people, the more opportunities you will get to know and the more likely you will succeed in business. For people with high IQ, the synapes were formed very early in life, and they were formed very easily, for the rest of use, we have to build them with some effort. Yes, the synapes can be built through learning and an effort to understand new concepts. Synapes are not built in a day, they require time and effort to build.

The left brain and right brain do work together for all us in our daily lives. In a lot of our activities, there is no strict rule to say only use the logical aspect or the creative aspect of our brains. Our brain is not like a computer, to turn a portion of it on and off whenever we want to. All parts of our brain work together to accomplish our daily tasks. If you have an interest in brain training, I would recommend that you check out cognitive training. At least, they advocate putting in a fair effort to train the brain. That effort will create additional synapes.

The internet is full of fake testimonials. There is a business reason for this. There is a commission given for every sale made by anyone who can pull in a client. Approach information with an inquiring mind.

I totally agreed with you. Paid 2k plus to send my 2 kids for the mid-brain activation. In the end the first kid so call got activated but still cannot perform in his study. 2nd kid was not activated (my sixth sense) but the GMA ppl keep telling me he is activated. He can't even tell the color of the card correctly when blindfolded. my 2nd kid went for the booster class. It was in the booster class then I realised I was cheated. When we parent attended the workshop the CEO told us whether the child did correctly or wrongly we must always reply the kid with words like \"very good\" and \"excellent\". when my 2nd kid attended the booster class, my son told me all the kid was given 1 to 1 coach except for him is 2 to 1 coach. What made me angry is that when my kid tell the anwser blindled folded, when it was correct, the coach answered \"very good\" but when he answered wrongly, the coach just kept quietly never said anything. This was totally different from what the CEO told all the parent during the workshop. The coach still got the chick to tell me my son got most of the color cards correctly. When the coach tested the othe kids, she will always answer \"very good\" when that boy said out the answer blinded-folded. very disappointed. I'll not trust all this website anymore. Anything is that the first 2 months, the GMA will send email to me to ask me to attend post-parent workshop where parents will share the story of their kids after their mid brain are activated. After my 2nd kid attend the booster class, I did not receive any more of these post parent workshop emails. Maybe they are worried that I might ruin their business. JUST MY ADVICE TO ALL PARENTS, DO NOT TRUST THE WEBSITE AND ALL THOSE MARKETING STRATEGIES.

Kelly888
