Has anyone done that recently? Think it’s cheaper but not so sure about safety.

I have done a comprehensive turkey trip many years back. No plans to go anytime soon. Thanks. My next destination is Douro, Portugal in September for grape harvesting season!

Took a local tour there. Booked through UOB Travel. We did Istanbul, Ankara, Cappadocia, Pamukkale, Canakkale, Kusadasi and Konya. A lot of traveling and I won’t drive on our own there. The advantage of a local tour is that it is more European style so we normally get to our hotel by late afternoon or evening and then have dinner at the hotel. Not too hectic. It was 12 days all in all and I think it’s about right. Any longer and we’ll have an overdoes of theaters and can’t tell one from another.


If you do go, you must visit Ephesus in Kusadasi for the well preserved ruins. When we were there, we could go into the limestone pools of Pamukkale but I think you can’t now. Cappadocia with its cave homes and frescos were very pretty. Canakkale has the Trojan horse.
